liking this new england team a lot. understated, with young players who seem to be able to play a mature team game (rather than players who were world class at a couple of things and couldn't gel at international level due to the hype and indiscipline). dele alli is a helluva find. stones and smalling at the back could be there for a decade, they seem to have the international attributes of composure and class. shaw when he comes back will be great but england have lots of decent left backs in the meantime. clyne at rb is good. hart is a consistently excellent and calm keeper finally. sterling is fantastic, kane can play across the forward line etc etc. quietly exciting times.

Are you following the Benzema - Valbuena trial? It's all getting a bit hilarious except for Valbuena and for France who will probably lose Benzema for the Euro

A good day to be Portuguese. Fairly satisfied with England's group:

So, making some assumptions about fitness, the England Euros sqaud more or less picks itself now doesn't it?
Goalkeepers: Hart, Forster, Heaton
Left Backs: Rose, Bertrand
Centre Backs: Smalling, Cahill, Jagielka, Stones
Right Backs: Walker, Clyne
Midfielders: Dier, Henderson, Milner, Barkley, Alli, Sterling, Lallana
Forwards: Kane, Rooney, Vardy, Welbeck, Sturridge
My xi for Russia would be:
Hart, Rose, Smalling, Cahill, Clyne, Dier, Henderson, Alli, Lallana, Rooney, Kane
Barkley and Vardy as impact subs.

Adam Lallana is now Englands best player by default.
