Iggy is on fire this tour. His band (who I've no idea who any of them are) are great too.
Saw The Masonics at a pub in Rochester Saturday. They're medway garage rock royalty and feature members of The Milkshakes, The Mighty Caesars & Thee Headcoats. They had Miss Ludella Black of Thee Headcoatees join them for a bunch of numbers too. Fun night in a tiny pub that was packed.

Saw Durand Jones last night on JP's recommendation. Had never heard of the guy before last week. I'm serious, it may have been the best show I've ever been to. His voice is absolutely, unreal. Great energy, great vibe, great tunes, strong band.

the sherlocks at norwich waterfront last night
i really like this band. they're proper meat and potatoes indie rock for the LADS but have quite an array of anthems now. this was a good gig but the one thing that let it down is despite the big tunes i love, they have the charisma of a piece of cardboard. when you're playing your lad tunes to an old man like me who has grown up with iconic frontmen like liam gallagher, ian brown and danny mcnamara i'm afraid you're going to have to work a bit harder on your stage presence lads.

Bluetones at Epic Studios Norwich last Thursday.
Played Return to Last Chance Saloon in full then an extended encore of "hits".
I've seen Morriss solo a few times over the years but this was my first time seeing the full band since Vfestival in 2002. They're a pretty tight unit really and the keys really stood out. Enjoyed it more than expected.

Pretty sure I have seen something since my last update but can't remember now. But I have tickets for a show I am not attending tomorrow and on Thursday another one I was looking forward to was cancelled.

Stone Foundation at Norwich Waterfront Studio tonight.
Properly love this band. Crowd is always full of old mod faces strutting their stuff and the band are tight as fuck. Always leave me with a proper grin on my face and pulling out terrible dance moves. 10/10.

PJ Harvey @ the roundhouse with popular forum members Forever & Krburg. She performed her new record in full then a second set of HITS. Great gig, I'm still underwhelmed by the new record but it sounded a little more immediate and full of life with her band. I say it every time I see her (so I guess I should really stop saying it) BUT, I forget how wonderful her voice is. The amount of range she possesses, never hitting a bad note. Excellent gig. Maybe now the weather is cold and horrible that new record will make more sense, though I doubt it.
The SCIENTISTS/BRUNO AND THE OUTRAGEOUS METHODS OF PRESENTATION @ the 100 Club Made a last minute decision to go along to this. The Scientists (sometimes just listed as just Scientists) are a garage-blues/punk band best known for their 80s output. Was a good set, loud as fuck. Bruno & the outrageous methods was great fun. The singers about 20 years old and the rest of the band probably in their 60s. Excellent garage/rock meets new wave meets power pop. Some great songs. The guy Bruno's stage banter was a bit cringe, though I wasn't sure if there was actually something a bit wrong with him so who knows. Anyway, they've got some bangers.
Baxter Dury @ The Roundhouse with popular forum member KRBURG Had only seen him once before, I don't remember him being so animated as a performer. He's got a real strong back catalogue to pull from now & played pretty much all my favourites so a good neet was had. Some British rap act supported, kept on about Pussy Power every 2 minutes. It wasn't good, but good energy.
Then Saturday I went to an awesome garage-punk night at the new cross in. MARTIN SAVAGE & THE JIGGERZ are fronted by a lanky Swedish bloke & is backed by the rhythm section of legendary TCOTU garage-rock band King Salami & the Cumberland 3. It was ferocious! Atomic Suplex are a band I've wanted to see for years, but only seem to play gigs at inconvenient times or locations so I've always missed them. Was well worth the wait. They was... ferocious! Bruno & the Outrageous Methods of Presentation did another good set, Bruno wasn't as annoying either. They've a song that is a blatant ripoff of Dirty Hands by Black Lips which I'm down for. They're not that ferocious, but was a welcomed set. Then to headline FERICIOUS garage-punk icons from Japan GUITAR WOLF headlined the bill. Played for ages, insane energy. Not sure any of the tunes were that good but the ferociousness levels were off the chart. Not that any of the bands would be my gig of the year, but all 4 were bloody wonderful. One of the best bills of bands I've seen in recent memory. I've realised I'm happiest when watching shitty 3 chord garage-punk bands in pubs.

😅 Uninteresting factette about Fade to Grey- Rusty Egan's girlfriend from Luxembourg sings the French bit (only mildly interesting and then only if you know I live in Luxembourg).

i did correctly guess 'a perfect day elise' as her highest chart entry. didn't realise 'good fortune' was outside the top 40.

The Reytons at Norwich UEA last night
Now playing much bigger venues than when I saw them last year. They seem to be ridiculously popular and the crowd was properly up for it, young and old alike.
Clearly they've now got a few quid as they'd invested in big smoke machines and fancy visuals since I last saw them.
Good night. Proper music for proper lads.

Algiers. Their fusion of styles isn't really my jam, but we don't get many notable bands in Marseille so I went anyway (with my older son, if you must know). Still, they're a rather impressive live band. Great singer. Overall, a good time was had by all.
