think i'll be retired from gig going soon if current prices are anything to go by. both the streets and steve mason have recently announced norwich gigs that normally i'd be over but me and mates have decided against due to extortionate ticket prices.
stuff i have got lined up for the rest of the year though, and nearly all of it big nasty ladrock...

Like a stopped clock, JP is occasionally spot on. Gigs are fucking expensive. And the older you get, the less your friends want to spend their evenings watching the kind of rubbish local band who charges £6 a ticket. Unless you're called Mahoney and Krburg.
Upcoming:
John Cale @ Edinburgh International Festival, Aug 26 Steve Mason @ Dunfermline Fire Station, Sep 10 The Reytons @ Glasgow Academy, Oct 7 Neon Waltz @ Oran Mor, Oct 12 Young Fathers @ Barrowland, Oct 23

When are Pastel dropping an album? 2024, they've just announced they've had to pull out of a tour with The Twang so that they can finish the record.

The new you couldn't handle the POWER of Pastel & The Twang. Just you stick to hanging out at the Jazz Cafe with all the other melts.

Binned off Keg and Paws from my previous list. No more young pretentious indie bands.
I now have new rules when it comes to gig attendance. They have to meet at least one of the following criteria (preferably all).
* be over 40 * be black * be a treacle * be someone I would want on my side in a fight

I bought tickets to see Death Cab For Cutie/The Postal Service for Orlando in April 2024.
I already see tickets being flogged for quite a hefty price tbh. I wasn't expecting it to be so popular but they are playing an arena.
Alvvays are also playing a smaller venue a few days later might try and grab tickets for that as well.

Got tickets for Liam’s DM gig in Dublin a few weeks back and then he goes and announces a Belfast gig so I’ve bought my eldest kid and I a ticket for that as well.
It’ll be his first ever taste of live music, he’ll probably be more excited for Kasabian’s support slot.

I'm not knocking them Steve but there's no way those 2 bands are going to flog enough tickets.
