There are a few candidates for me. Thierry Henry was the greatest player I have ever seen in an Arsenal shirt and Patrick Vieira is one of the most unique, I've never seen anyone of his size with those skills and finesse. But they both get a minus point for agitating for moves in a slightly unseemly manner. I used to love Ljungberg when he was a skinny, gutsy speed merchant (it's shocking looking back at clips as to how fast and strong he was) who would constantly do things that would surprise you - but then his prettyboy nature took over and he lost all his pace and bollocks. Ian Wright was my idol when I was a kid, still one of the best finishers I've ever seen, but then he turned out to be an utter penis. Bergkamp is probably my number 2 as he had the best touch I've ever seen and he's an all-round legend. So number 1? I'm gonna go with this man: When he first signed I wasn't sure about him, he looked too lightweight and went down rather easily (he never really shook that off tbf) and I thought that at the age of 27 he wasn't gonna get much better. My words were shoved massively down my throat. He was fucking incredible. With that really odd running style which was deceptive in the extreme, he'd regularly make complete mugs of defenders or goalkeepers and his goalscoring record was fucking fantastic. Couple that with the fact that he must have been a fucking dream for others to play with - that left hand side of Ashley Cole-Robert Pires-Thierry Henry was murderous. It would annihilate teams in 15-20 min periods and Pires stitched it all together. You would see teams fucking shitting themselves when it started clicking. Him and Ljungberg on the wings was mustard. I remember Ljungberg scored a goal against Liverpool where Pires just waited until Ljungberg charged in out of nowhere and no one else in the stadium had seen him coming...except Pires, who, cool as you like, skinned his man and drilled in the ideal ball for Ljungberg to finish. Here it is, in fact: In 200102 he had stepped it up a level and I genuinely think he was the best player in the world at that time. Every game, I knew he'd do something which would be extraordinary and get people gasping. It's no wonder that when he got crocked and Arsenal won the league, the whole squad bowed down and worshipped him as he picked up his winners medal. A team full of world class players at his feet because they realised how fucking amazing he had been. Personally, I met him once and he was lovely. Had a lot of time for everyone and had some proper OIOIWKDBANTERSAURUSREX with Henry who proceeded to pretend to be a speed bump in the car park not moving at all so Pires's car couldn't move. Pires got out, told him to fuck off and then had a bit more of chat with the adoring throng and his fit missus. Whattaman. Plus he was DREAMY.

Bizarre thing for a City supporter to say, but my blood is green: His desire, fire and playing occasionally dirty with no apologies always impressed me. (This also helps explain my irrational hatred of Mick McCarthy.) From the blue side of Manchester, I always had a lot of time for Martin Petrov when he was healthy. Goater and Dickov from the dark days, of course. And now... Never seen anyone like him. He just never stops.

Reason: There's been far too many top class players to choose from, Zidane, Rui Costa, Savicevic, Boban, Stoichkov, Zola, Gerrard, Baggio, Ronaldo (real one) etc etc.
Gary Rowett is my favourite cause he was better than all of them

for me, Andrei Kanchelskis. He was the reason I always wanted to be a winger. My granda was a United fan so I would watch highlights with him. Always wanted to see him at Spurs.
At Everton
At Man Utd
Not one of his finer moments lol
Favourite Spurs players include Klinsmann, Popescu, Sheringham, Anderton, Ginola, Bale, Dawson, Van Der Vaart, Defoe amongst others
Flicking round YouTube... Thierry Henry was a funny fucker

Luis Garcia is a typical example of Benitez can take of a decent player, and how he extracts every single drop of blood of him. He had some good years before Liverpool, but he certainly was incredibly shit after that. Don't recognise him many virtues, but I can see why you like him so much as it has happened to me with similar players. Pires, what a don. He still showed some of his magic at Villarreal and even appeared a lot in the local TV making all kinds of silly interviews Mine then, well. I'm gonna mention Ruben Baraja, probably the most complete midfielder I've ever seen when he was on top, and the best one with Deco and Xavi. He never really got the national and international credit he deserved, as Xabi Alonso used to have better press. Really nice man, always solid as a rock on the good times and on the bad ones. Too many injuries though. But my favourite ever surely has to be Claudio Lopez. He came here being a nobody, I can even remember the first interview. But we were quite shit then too, so his rising was our rising. Fast as fuck, destroyed the deffences once and again, and when he calmed down he started scoring ridicolously easy. He completely humilliated Van Gaal's Barcelona for a good run of years and had always a smile in his face. With him we won our first trophy in more than 20 years and got to the final in our first Champions League. And when he left the team he did it probably the best way he could (although he can't return cos apparently he ows a fuckin' lot to the Treasury Department)

Didn't Benitez have him at some shit team before, that makes it slightly easier.
He hasn't been great very recently but Barry Ferguson is class.
