I hate it when people say that people in the Armed Forces should be paid the same as footballers. Just where in the fuck would that money come from? Footballers get paid that amount of money cos the sport generates that kind of money.
ooh pay the heroes the same as footballers - fuck off ya stupid cunts.

I think it's more pointing to the fact that players get paid obscene amounts of money. Just like when they say nurses should get footballers wages.
I've often tried the "pay teachers the same as footballers". I just get laughed at funnily enough

- people who boo their own team - barcelona and real madrid. disgusting clubs. - when discussing/arguing about football and someone saying "yeah but we've won X many leagues/cups" as if that is a valid point in a contemporary argument - several arsenal and spurs fans - that brainless "hard work", "putting in a shift" and "getting stuck in" are somehow still seen as superior to touch, technique, patience and skill in this country. it's why the leg-breakers are lauded and england continue to be an embarrassment on the world stage. - people like andy gray suggesting that lionel messi wouldn't cut it in the premier league because the blackburns and stokes of this league wouldn't let him play - man city and chelsea. disgusting clubs. - stoke city, a disgrace to football. i don't give a shit if it's "effective". to watch delap dry the ball for ages on a specially designed vest under his shirt is cringeworthy in the extreme - agents - that i haven't played for months

Its definitely an inherited thing, look at the love of say Billy Bremner he's got a statue at Elland road, now i've never seen anything of that Leeds side (apart from a fictional account in the Damned United) but i'm sure there were far better footballers with better technique in that side

Have read the book by Vialli, he devotes around 123 pages to this topic and mentions the Billy Bremenr statue thing. I think Johnny Giles was the more skilful player he picked out.
But to be fair Billy was a great player (by al accounts) and was the captain of the most successful Leeds team of all time.
Kopites prefer Dalglish to Souness Evertonians prefer Kevin Sheedy to Peter Reid. United fans prefer Cantona to Keane. City fans prefer Kinkladze to Ian Brightwell. Southampton fans prefer Le Tissier to Chris Marsden. Spurs fans prefer Ginola to Tom Huddlestone. etc etc etc etc

ok but try going like for like technically as a footballer this mexican at Fulham is better than Konchesky but they'd all rather have Konchesky back
At Stan Drews we have a talented player called Michel, ok Lee Bowyer isn't absolutely adored at the moment cause his age is starting to show again every so often but you even try and suggest giving Michel a go and you'll get laughed at I know from personal experience haha

I don't like how we we stick our creative talents out wide (mind you seeing how shit David Dunn was on saturday centrally i understand why)
and i dislike how impatient we are, we forget that people like Bergkamp took a while to settle (although again to go against myself zigic is indeed shit lol)

He just has that "wee guy syndrome" and loved to start fights
