Been listening to their back catalogue a bit lately and they had some classics to be honest. Was just watching some random youtube clips of them and it's a bit hilarious. As we know Chris has some hefty aspergers which partly explains his behavior but christ the guy is mental isn't he. But in watching it all, I think the dynamic between him and his bandmates is hilarious. Specifically the drummer, just looks like he is thinking "oh for fucks sake" the whole time as he watches Chris with despair, I think it's a magic dynamic. I think I heard that due to his condition they can't really leave Australia or play massive shows but it seems they still do the odd show here and there. Massive stuff the Vines. ;D

You mean Craig. And the Vines should just stick with writing jingles for Vegemite ads. A poor man's Strokes.

I mentioned them in The Strokes thread, as they're releasing another dull number. I used to like them a fuckin' lot but they've been incredibly shit lately, aspergers aside.

They were one of the first gigs I saw, headlininig for Ok Go . Wasn't impressed tbh but I still managed to buy a t-shirt and a badge (which I still own). It has ironic value now I guess, as someone once put it. I thought their first album was 25% good. Never bothered with anything else after that.

Quite liked the first 2 albums and so did Sir Soul. Autumn Shade II is an utter tune.

All their albums so far are worth at least stealing. Craig's quite the tunesmith.

I really love their first two albums.. Very much a summer band for me. Craig can write some absolutely beautiful tunes. Mary Jane, Autumn Shade, Rainfall, Winning Days, etc etc.
I saw them live once when the toured the US with Jet and the Living End. If the Living End weren't one of the best live acts I had ever seen, that might have been the worst gig I have ever been to. I was blown away by TLE, Jet blew goats for quarters, and the Vines actually managed to be worse than Jet. Weird gig.

A lot of memories associated with this song.. So that may cloud my judgment.. But this is easily my favorite song of theirs...

Listening to their albums now, there's a few stinkers but overall it's pretty good. they really sound like a 2000 Nirvana.

And that was always the hype-line - Beatles crossed with Nirvana.

Yeah, and you could even believe it, crossing sweetness with roughness, psychodelic with melodies.
But now they only release boring predictable two minutes song with solos repeating the vocal melody
