tbh someone valued at 50 million pound should have a top confidence, iron legs and balls to step forward and carry the weight of a team on his shoulders. Oh well...

I'll never understand the whole "lost his confidence" excuse. He's a professional athlete. It's his job to be prepared and in form. If he's such a headcase that he can't handle the pressure, he's probably in the wrong profession, no?

babu has a point there, it's not like they write the 0s on the cheque, there are lots of professional athletes who enjoy playing but are uncomfortable with fame and pressure. Side damage I supose.
But yeah, what I meant is Chelsea fucked it up. But it's a usual practice on Premier League to pay shitloads for mediocre players. Yesterday I read Liverpool are planning on spending 15 million pound on Jose Enrique, it's simply unbelievable to me.

Torres isn't mediocre though, is he? No, but the ratio quality/value is incredibly high, don't think many people will disagree. And then Liverpool spent all that money in two decent players, which I'd have valued in half of what they costed. With the current football market there are not many players worth of paying 30 million, and I can count with the fingers of one hand the ones playing at the Premier League.

The amount of money being paid for English players within the Premier League is the worst. 99% of them are about as shit as my arsehole yet 15 to 20 million pound is nothing. Hope it all crashes down and the EPL will get to level of their national team, the level of the Albanian League

Hope it all crashes down and the EPL will get to level of their national team, the level of the Albanian League Arsene Wegner has shown how much can be done when you ignore the English market. The amount of trophies he's won since Adams, Keown, Seaman, Dixon and Bould left his team has been almost uncountable. Most overpriced players in the premier league would include Shevchenko, Crespo, Veron, Jo, Kolarov, Ryan Babel etc etc You get me?

Every league has its failures. Without the foreign players the English league would be shit, like it used to be. Only Liverpool has been great before the invasion of foreign football players, FACT ;D
The amount of money being played for players like Darren Bent, Andy Carroll etc is just absurd. It might also be due to the homegrown rule but everyone knows England national team is the laughing stock of Europe ;D Your league is being controlled by the dazzling skills of foreign players. Be proud of it, LOL. Primera Division >>>>>>>>>>>>>> SPL>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>EPL

To be fair, I think Manchester United is the only balanced team in England nowadays. Always have a good amount of GOOD British players combined with some outstanding foreign (team) players. One of the reasons they have been so good for the past 15 years ;D
