will be on the blog (can someone sticky this??): was thinking about having a hottest albums list every 15 days as of August 1st- 15th, August 16th- 30th, Sept 1st-15th, Sept 16-31st.... The goal of the blog posts will be to know what soapy members are listening to during that two week period. This is what I am thinking, I will make a thread every two weeks so people can vote for their five favorite albums during that two week period. 1st place= 5 pts 2nd place= 4 pts 3rd place= 3 pts 4th place= 2 pts 5th place= 1 pt You are aloud to modify your votes as you go but every 15th and 30th or 31st (depending on the month) at around 10pm central time I will finalize the voting. We can have a column for this week, last week, number of times in the charts, times voted first place...etc. Kind of like Billboard. Ill start it 1. The Coral- Butterfly House 2. Best Coast- Crazy For You 3. The XX- XX 4. Teenage Fanclub- Shadows 5. The Love Language- Libraries -Top 15 albums of the two week period will make the cut. -You can select any album you want. -We can influence each other by posting early. Maybe Moz will be listening to David Bowie- The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars and he posts his top 5 early in the week and many of us will be oh shit, i wanna listen to that album too and many of us might have TRAFOZSATSFM by the end of the two week period. -You can post your top 5 early in the two week period and modify it as many times as you want until the two week period is over. (hopefully it will look something like this www.theofficialcharts.com/albums-chart/, haven´t thought of a design yet, will probably be changing a lot until we have the right design) |

I'd be surprised if enough people bother with this to make it worthwhile, seems far too ambitious for a board of so few users, Also, aren't almost all of us on lastfm? If so if everybody joined the soapbox group you could just use the weekly/monthly charts from there. I don't know how many are joined but last weeks chart looks like this

Aye there's a difference between the stuff you listen to most and your "5 HOT ALBUMS OF THE WEEK" aint there? For starters, I bet most of those Arcade Fire plays are for their most recent one - which, aside from a couple of members, I've not seen anybody rave about.

Well tbh my 5 hot albums of the week will most probably the 5 bands I'm listening to the most so they will be pretty much the same. I just can't see this working, so say I mention Sparklehorse - good morning spider, chances are I'm the only cunt that will mention it that week so unless it's something thats recently leaked everybody's top 5's will be totally different making the chart pretty pointless.

Sorry, I hate to be a defeatist especially when theMex is trying to think of a way to improve the blog & so on. TheMex could do a weekly post of what shit he's been listening to. Anyone on here on lastfm who's not joined the soapbox group? I swear I had but I just had to add myself again. The weekly chart would at least reflect what the soapbox has been listening to + only need someone to post the top 20 over. Probably not worth putting the amount of plays as it'll be a kinda low figure but the actual top 20 could be an idea. www.last.fm/group/soapbox |

Aye you make some good points tbh - with a board of 100 or so active users it'd be pretty mint as I'm sure there'd be some overlap but as things stand there'd be a lot of single votes tbh.
