NME: "Liam also said that his new band Beady Eye are well underway in the writing of the follow up to their debut album, 'Different Gear, Still Speeding'. He said it would be released next summer.
"We've been in the studio messing around with a few tunes," he said. "We're going to finish the tour about Christmas time, then about February go in the studio and hopefully have it out by summer. We're not going to rush it, but we're not going to fuck about either. We've got the songs, we're ready to go.""

Realisitically all a band can do nowadays is a free single, followed by a proper single that goes onsale the second it hits the radio and then maybe a radio only single/EP type thing after the album is out.
Anything else is only going to lose money and get an embarrassing chart position.

Totally, my idea would be get the first radio play on radio 1 and then like you said be able to buy it straight away on download with the b sides, I'd also have a limited amount of vinyls and cd's available on pre order from the website to bump it up the charts a bit. Oh and any video premieres same night too.
