Can I shock you? I like Green Street. I wouldn't put it in my top 10 films whose titles included the words 'Green' and 'Street' consecutvely though. its not a bad film, its just that Brits can't stand a Yank being a top guy in a firm. brits feel Green Street is more unrealistic than any James Bond film.

Everything about green street is shit.
That nadir of the film has to be the united bit. United fans are chanting at a wall, west ham fans hear about this so stop the train by pressing the emrgency button, the train stops EXACTLY where it would've done if the driver had stopped it, the platform is empty, as is the entire town, they say its 8 miles to manchester when it's about 40, they get a van from the only man in macclesfield on a saturday afternon, and they then make their way back to manchester city centre, this would've taken about an hour, probably more, and the united fans are STILL chanting at a wall, they're being watched by CCTV but there is NO police presence, even in the 70 s this wouldn't have happened, the west ham fans use some daft ruse to get past the united fans, they then have a fight where 8 west ham destroy about 40 united fans.
All the time Hunnam's awful attempt at the cockney accent drags it to further depths.

So really isn't it more 'everything about Green Street is unrealistic' then? I mean, if you want to revel in the details of hooliganism then obviously it isn't the film for you, but as a generic, 'over excited young pup gets into bother (or should that be Bovver hurhur) and heroic old timer comes out of retirement to rescue him (while Elijah Wood doddles round like a fanny and learns life lessonz)' then I thought it was quite enjoyable

If it lives or dies on it's realism, yes, otherwise no. And Green Street certainly doesn't. If you showed it to someone who knew nothing of hooliganism then there's a chance they could enjoy it as a story. But I don't even like it that much ffs It's just that everyone slags it off and I thought it was ok

Oh well I never saw it but when I'm watching a movie which has a lot of unrealistic things in it (most are just out of laziness cq lack of research) I can't enjoy it anymore
