Alright, asked quite a bit about this on the old board and got answers but never got around to getting all the stereo LP's until now.
Can someone (Ben i guess) tell me which I should do in stereo & which in mono? I think the general opinion was mono up to a certain point then switch to stereo but I can't remember.
This whole situation really annoyed me at the time because I kept flicking through songs and changing my mind every 2 seconds, I'd rather someone made their mind up for me & that'll be it, done forever.

Honest, I spent about 3 hours listening to different parts of lucy in the sky with diamonds & changed my mind about 7 times. Yeah I am not keen with voice in one ear, annoys me.

Mono for everything up to & including Sgt Peppers, either for Magical Mystery Tour then stereo for The White Album, Abbey Road and Let it Be. There are still a few points on the mono tracks - for example at the end of Got to Get You into My Life - where I'm not used to the alternative mixes having listened to the stereo records for years before the remasters, those bits always throw me a little.

Yea, gonna play some tricks Karl.
While the mono mixes of AHDN and BFS are good, their stereo counterparts are excellent and you should really listen to both to decide. While mono is the original intention for the albums up to Abbey Road (White Album was mono in the UK; stereo in the states), the stereo mixes are excellent post-With The Beatles.
It also depends how you listen to the music regularly. I'm 99% of the time listening to music in headphones.
Past Masters are different in both sets. IE Mono doesnt have some tracks the Stereo does. You have to look at it and make sure you have all the songs.

the mono set is better for the masters. otherwise you are missing out on hey bulldog and it's all too much. You cant choose just one, if you skip the stereo set, you lose Ballad of John and Yoko amongst others. There are songs that are only on each set.

Go mono on the past masters songs up to White Album era, stereo for the rest, and take the songs that are only on the mono set. I remember going through each fucking song to make a "definitive" Past Masters... heres that
