i love this band. massive live, full of energy, all about having a good time though. hardly life changing lyrics or anything of that sense. they do drugs, make music that is good.
serge is a bit of of a hit/miss when it comes to vocals. his "ooooooooohhhhs" here are shit. yeah he sounds good on a couple of tunes, but he shouldnt sing as much. but then again, its HIS band. serge writes everything, so he can do whatever he wants really.
with this new album, i feel as if this will be the closest they get to the prodigy, not necessarily in terms of a similar sound, but it terms of producing this kind of fuck all-play loud-mean nothing music, that just makes you feel good.
empire is very underrated. plenty of good stuff there, and not just 2-3 tunes - in my opinion.
as for ryder? my favourite. brilliant, beginning to end. i like the sound of it. i like the experimentation, and its one of those albums tht you listen to from beginning to end. its what horizon was saying in the other thread. "happiness" by itself is quite a boring song, hardly a single, in the context of an album it brings ryder to a nice melodic end. it works.
and did i say they are fucking crazy live?!
ps - new tune sounds massive in the car.
