I know she's been mentioned on here a few times already but lets have a proper thread about her eh? Brilliant album, might even be a one-two with PJ Harvey at the moment for favourite this year for me. Definitely the heiress to PJ's crown on current form. Also heard she's brilliant live, can't wait to see her at Glasto and she's touring this autumn I would like to sex

Yeah, I've only given the album I try in the last couple of weeks or so, but I really like it. I think she's doing Field(s) Day, so will hopefully catch her then.
Pollys mate Rob Ellis produced the record I believe.

She's stunning, both for the eyes and the ears. Gonna see her naked twice soon.

She's nothing short of terrific live and I love the record.
I'm seeing her again in July and I'm really looking forward to it.

Album hasn't grabbed me in a big way yet but really liked what I've seen of her live. Will check her out in the peel next week.

yeah i can understand why people are loving the album but it hasn't grabbed me either. i'm pretty sure it will do though, judging by how people on here are vibing to it. enough to convince me to buy tickets for the shepherds bush gig

One or two songs that grabbed my attention when I listened to it last night. Must give it more chances of course but hope it clicks fairly soon. I am not in the mood at the moment for that type of music really so I fear I will not give it enough chance and then forget about her.

maybe the production isn't dynamic enough, i dunno. or it could be that the subtleties of it shine through with repeated listenings. certainly hoping for the latter. the songs are fucking great though

The first half is maybe a bit slow, I reckon. She obviously doesn't do big rock n roll tunes, but another track like Blackout nearer the start of the record would've helped the pacing i think. That tune be The Shit, and the closing track is just great songwriting innit. Stunning vocals throughout, too.
She seems like one of those artists who will produce her best work 4 or 5 albums in, not unlike Ms Harvey IMO. A great talent leek

maybe the production isn't dynamic enough, Thats kinda what I was feeling about it. Everything felt a bit flat compared to the bits I'd heard live. Not enough life in the recordings.

Cheers Ben, the Black Sessions are brilliant. Not a huge leap from the album, sound-wise, but there's certainly a bit more energy about these versions. A nice companion-piece, like

she's got this crazy sex appeal thing that really fucking works. although i am not too enthusiastic about the tunes, she's got a nice voice, i like that weird guitar playing, i'm really thinking about going to her live NY show.
good live?

Just a bump to mention I'm adding a zip to the bit, that I originally upped for a Twitter fella yesterday The Black Session is in there, which I actually prefer to the album. B-sides, and the handful of live tracks from her short-lived band, Cheap Hotel. Did a tiny bit of editing on Black Session, to remove some of the interaction with some of the knobblers in the audience. 'Twas for the best
