1. No cringe worthy Liam vocals I love him and what he meant to Oasis, but his voice is horrendous now.
2. First 100% Noel-penned album since 1997 Again, Liam had a few great tunes but most of his songs are weak. Although Andy wrote some classic songs in RIDE, his Oasis tunes never approached those standards. I could do without every single Gem song he wrote for Oasis as well.
3. No more Gem I used to like him, but fuck me did he really start to get on my tits the last 4 years or so. Although an immensely talented guitarist, I'd had enough of his guitar style, which I thought was "anti-Oasis" and, along with Liam's declining vocals, ruined the classic Oasis sound more than anything else.

When you take into account his age, the drinking and smoking he's done since Wonderwall, I think it's fair to say his voice is incredible (if only on record)

Andy wrote some chooons for Hurricane#1 too, very Oasis sounding - yet never managed to pull out tracks of the same quality for Oasis itself. Very odd.
"Step into my world" is still one of my top tunes of all time. Of all time!

I agree with #2. but I admit Liam's one are GETTING BETTER ALL THE TIME. oh well that's not true. still think Born On A Different Cloud is his best one. Noel used to nail it fucking right on the 2002 tour.

When you take into account his age, the drinking and smoking he's done since Wonderwall, I think it's fair to say his voice is incredible (if only on record) That's exactly my point: all of the drinking and smoking he has done has negatively impacted his voice to the extent that he no longer sounds good. His voice was still excellent in the studio on SOTSOG, and fairly solid the majority of the time from HC through DOYS. However, there were still a few studio recordings from 2002 - 2008 that made me cringe. His voice on DGSS is shocking, along with some of the tunes. ;D

just listen to wigwam's ablum version. he sounds like a 22 year old. on the first live recordings (rehearsal and bbc), he sounded almost the same. and now? well, he sounds totally different. well he's always been like that for the last tours anyway. more aggressive and I quite like it tbh.
anyway, as I said, I've been waiting for a Noel solo album for more than 10 years. so I'm glad it came to now.
