mahoney said "sellouts" in the youtube thread about this tune, dunno if it was about the forum members or towards the cribs.
If it was towards the cribs not getting it tbh as I think it sounds much more like their first two albums against their much more "commercial" latest efforts.
WHICH ONE IS IT

Was a joke though the song is complete shit, I really hope they don't make an album that sounds like that.
Also, that is by far the most commercial sounding polished up piece of shit they've ever made, sounds absolutely nothing like their first two records.

It's a fairly poor effort. They should stick to what they do best imo.

Wouldn't consider this a shift in direction anyway, regardless of whether or not ya like it. They're apparantly gonna do a handful of these impromptu one-off singles, switch it up a bit.
Don't think the next full length album will be much different from what they do best.

I don't think you know what they do best tbh.
The song just bores me. It's alright but boring. They have gone from a very exciting band to a very boring band and the only way back is too experiment a bit like this - except it's still boring.
I have no idea how to freshen them up. I think they're doomed.

Kick that bloke from the smiths out, get angry about life, record the songs quickly without no outside help, keep the raw power.

They were progressing fine in their own way with stuff like Be Safe and Men's Needs in general, making boring dadrock with Marr could be a long and dark, boring tunnel for them. I still like this tune though, maybe it's because ITIgnorant lowered my expectations but it sounds really throwaway in a good way, like their very early stuff, maybe it was a mistake making it a stand alone single thoguh, that's possibly shines a bit too much light on it

I actually really like the last album but I have fears where they are heading should take a few steps back rather than looking forwards

I think with Man's Needs they made a really good album with a mainstream edge, so much so that any further attempts at a mainstream Indie sound are uneeded. Now they seem to be naturally progressing that way when they don't need to. What's the point? The best songs on Ignorant were Stick To Yr Guns and City of Bugs which were both inferior to Be Safe as lengthy epic tunes. I also liked We Were Aborted but it was blatent Man's Needs part 2. The rest was boring for me.
I know everyone loves Share the Same Skies but to me it's shit. The Cribs shouldn't be making music to soundtrack MOTD2 ffs.

Most songs on ITIgnorant are at least good imo - but the idea of listening to it as a whole album always feels quite boring to me compared to the buzz of taking The New Fellas off the shelf. City Of Bugs is ace but mostly it's slower, slicker produced versions of their old stuff. I don't wanna lay the blame solely at Johnny Marr's feet because obviously the Jarmans want to go in that direction, but they were always such a 'do it youself' band where you could see them change slightly from album to album, then it was such a conventional 'indierock' album. Still, at least they're not Kings Of Leon
