The Sarah Silverman Program - Season 1 (2007) Sarah plays an childish, self-absorbed character as vehicle to deliver her over the top, un-pc style of jokes. It works in this short 6 episode debut season. A lot of people can't stand her but I laughed throughout. The spots are done so lightly that you don't really cringe like you might if you read the script, I would reckon. 7/10 Heh aye i really liked that show too. Watched it all about this time last year. Now i think Silverman's brilliant Her dad's on Twitter too now. He's funny as fuck

Yeah, corking little film indeed. Gonna try and find some films along the same kinda lines, so if anyone has any recommendations please lob them in my face x Self deprecating French Bond parody. I loved it

[074] The Pope of Greenwich VillageI found this film throughouly entertaining, Eric Roberts is definitely the star here, he's amazing and steals every scene he's in, even though they try to advertise it as a Mickey Rourke joint (by that I mean the posters and such). I found it a bit too long at almost 2 hours long, but I still enjoyed it a lot. Thanks to rolli for the recommendation. [075] Black SwanOk I decided to re-watch this, gearing up for the Oscars; while I do not think this will be the best picture winner (The King's Speech will be, I think), I still find it very fascinating. This time I watched it differently though, since I already knew the story I focused more on the little intricate details and tips, and noticed that more than 85% of the success of the special effects and suspense comes from sound effects (I found those to be at virtually every scene, adding to the suspense and the whole feel of it). I'd dare to say I liked it more this second time around.

[073] Eagle vs. SharkWell this is a nice little film, great soundtrack (M. Ward covering Let's Dance and my favorite Stone Roses song during closing credits = love). Jemaine Clement obviously steals the show, as usual; what got me about this film was the delivery of simple lines and words "wanna have sex?" "yup". I'm stealing that FFS. Aesthetically it has a similar feel to that tacky, hipsterish, ugly 80's Napoleon Dynamite style, but for some reason I can't help but imagine that's what New Zeland is actually like . Which is not necessarily a bad thing, either. I recommend this to whoever's looking for a sort-of-love-story with quirky characters, an amazing soundtrack and a feel-good vibe to it. (oh yeah, baby, I went there) [12 or 13] yeah really good little film. I liked the girl and I laughed very much in it. Like ana, I dont have much nice to say about napoleon dynamite, but I liked thisn one a lot. New zealand sun set looks the bees knees tbh. It was very nice told, the story about the people with not so much going on for them in their life. still, sleeping in tent looks like it will cover for the rain. Or sleeping in the bushes 7,5/10

Barney's Version (2010) I went into this movie with no real expectations or actually fully realizing what the plot was going to be about. I never read the book before hand and only seen the trailer once for the movie. The movie blew me away, maybe I was in the mood for this kind of storyline or maybe it's Paul Giamatti's excellent performance of the character. I have to give this a 10/10 and I'm already hoping that Giamatti and the movie when big at the Academy Awards. Go see it!

Sounds good, Steve, gonna give it a go if I can find a torrent. [076] Back to the FutureEnough has been said about this; my favorite part of this film isn't necessarily a scene, but the chemistry between Marty and Doc Brown. It's perfect, as far as two actors teaming up for comedy effect and carrying a story, it really doesn't get better than those two. [077] Back to the Future Part III prefer the first one to the rest, but this one's really good too. My favorite bit: the scene at the 80's café: "you mean you have to use your hands? that's like a baby's toy!". How I always imagined the future.

The Wire - Season 1 - 8.5/10 Excellent viewing from start to finish. Bubs, Omar and Jimmy are some fine, fine characters and watching season 1 just made me itch to find out what happens to them in future. Surely the sign of some great writing. The Wire - Season 2 - 7.5/10 Well after hearing alot about this season being one of the weakest I was a bit concerned going into it, especially with the introduction of the boats/docks. Luckily that feeling subsided rather quickly and after a few middle of the road episodes at the beginning things really picked up towards the end. Frank was yet another great character. I didn't care for Ziggy at all to begin with but by the end he was excellent. Pryzbylewski punching Valchek was a real fist pump moment. A couple of episodes into season 3 now, looking forward to the rest.

Stardust - 2007 "In a countryside town bordering on a magical land, a young man makes a promise to his beloved that he'll retrieve a fallen star by venturing into the magical realm." I have loved this movie since the first time I saw it. It's highly underrated. The acting is good, the characters are great, the story is great. Mark Strong steals the show as Septimus. There are genuinely funny moments in the movie as well. I can see how some people wouldn't like it, especially if they don't like fantasy movies, but I love it. Reminds me a bit of a more fantastical Princess Bride. Good stuff. Plus it has De Niro in it as a pirate who dresses in drag. Epic.

The pervert's guide to cinema, 2006. [14] A philosopher shows his favourite clips from his favourite movies and talks about them. For 2,5 hours. Some pretty interesting things he had to say, but mostly it spoke through the films he showed. It was kind of like a summary book that you read in introduction courses at uni. It says a little about a few things and stops when it gets interesting. He also show the ending of some movies. At least I think he does. I watched it with a friend. We didn't talk for those 2,5 hours. 6/10

City by the Sea (2002) With Robert De Niro, James Franco, and Frances McDormand one might expect some good shit. De Niro wasn't good till the end, Franco was Franco, and McDormand had a shit part. It was an average premise for a film and not shot with any noteworthy style. 5/10

I've not seen the original and I'm not the biggest western fan in the world so probably not the best person to offer an opinion on this one but I really liked it. The story was a little spare but thats sometimes refreshing when you compare it to the over complicated story lines America loves to produce. It was filmed in a way that makes it really easy to watch but the main reason I liked it is the dialogue. I've only seen No Country for Old Men, Burn After Reading and now True Grit from the Coen brothers but the dialogue in Burn After Reading and True Grit make the films stand out even more and make them very easy to digest and down to earth. There are a few stand out action/comedy moments and I think its well worth a look at. 7/10

The Fighter - 7/10 A decent movie, better than I expected it to be actually. Especially with Christian Bale, because I really can't stand him, but luckily he's an undeniably great actor. Wahlberg was a bit boring however. Felt the big moments in the film just came and went, it was a bit of a strange one. But definitely an enjoyable watch nonetheless.

Especially with Christian Bale, because I really can't stand him, but luckily he's an undeniably great actor. I guess the part at the very end when Bale starts to break down while he's talking about his brother (Wahlberg) and then gets up and walks off camera wasn't scripted. Apparently he really did start crying and had to walk off set to compose himself. Dunno if that's actually true, but if it is, kinda shows how much he puts into the roles he plays. Sure he's nuts in real life, but I almost feel like you have to be a little crazy to be a convincing actor.

The Runaways (2010) No doubt JoJett can carry an ax. And really, who doesn't like some k-stew. But this is so cringeworthy I actually lost a few teeth grinding them. Dakota Fanning should have been no where near this film. But to be fair, it was so poorly concepted it wouldn't matter what underage cooze they decide to cast in that role. It is a mockery of what a story like this should be and, well, it is shit. 3/10
