Would be great (as long as they do a gig here, lol). Whatever happened to the album plans they said to have in 2006/7? Ive given up on a new album tbh.. I remember reading in Uncut something like ''we wouldn't bother reforming if it didnt go hand in hand with releasing new material''. But nothings happened since what a band

Top band would love to see them but I highly doubt they do a tour of the states. Also could care less if they put another album out or not. I'd rather hear old material than new material I probably could give 2 shits about.

Last I heard jim had hit the booze in a bad way again. I wouldn't bet on it happening anytime soon. Been listening to them loads the past week or so.

Fuck it, I know they are a bunch of middle aged men but I'd rather hear an album by them at this point than by anyone else

I'm surprised the psychocandy gigs never happened when they came back the other year. With the success of these revisited records especially with All Tomorrows Parties it was kind of a surprise they never went that way. TBH I'm glad that didn't as I much preferred getting an overall hits gig when I saw them.
Those definitive editions of the albums are pretty sweet but this will be about the 47th time they've released their b-sides in one way or another.

Tbh I reckon any Psychocandy gigs would sound shit. There's no way they could capture that kind of intensity again.
When I saw them twice in 2007 they sounded lean and mean, but that's because they were playing in the style they had become used to - a hard rock band with great tunes.

would've loved to see them during those four songs and fuck off gigs. theyd look like pretty big idiots if they tried it again (that said there'd be a sense of sheer awesomeness id get off watching middle aged men pulling that)

Been listening to Munki alot this week. It's a record I'd probably only ever heard a handful of times previously. Miles too long & some of the worst predictable lyrics I've ever heard on a record but when it's good it's damn good. Shame they couldn't of edited themselves a bit more on there, would of made a lean & mean 10 track album.

God is great oh yeah God is good, and my friend Ben thinks that beer is food
\m/
It's my favourite after Automatic. It's flawed.. Too long, it has filler but there's some truly epic songs on it as well. Ironically it's also the closest they ever came to shoegaze imo. Really dark in places as well
Degenerate, Fizzy, Love+Hate Rock n roll, Stardust remedy..

I think my personal preference on their records would be
Darklands Psychocandy Honey's Dead Munki Automatic Stoned & Dethroned
Big, big band.

Stoned & Dethroned last you cunt f'off. Although listened to it the other night and it's pretty samey. Really enjoy Sometimes Always, These Days, Feeling Lucky actually every tune is top notch from Stoned & Dethroned. Fuck Munki is their worst by a long shot good thing they broke up afterwards cause it just wasn't there for them anymore.
Psychocandy Stoned & Dethroned Honey's Dead Darklands Automatic Munki
Also some of their b-sides are mega. Some Candy Talking (Dunno if was a b-side), Sidewalking, Snakedriver and Upside Down some of my favorite non-album tracks.
But yes mahoney big, big, very big band....

Stoned & dethroned doesn't cut if for me. The stripped back mary chain sound comes across as almost bland, also it really exposes their shit lyrics that are often covered up with their usual sound. Sometimes Always is a great tune, I dig She & Between Us too but on the whole it just sounds like J&MC in third gear.
Yeah they've some fantastic EP tracks & B-sides. Some Candy Talking is the lead song from the E.P. of the same title. Was listening to it a few hours ago.

Just read your Munki comments... Munki owns you. A RETURN TO FORM after the borefest of stoned & dethroned.

I agree and disagree on the shit lyrics part. Psychocandy pure lyrical perfection never mind the noise factor cause every song is a gem hidden under the noise. After that album every album is patchy lyrically imo. Although I find Stoned & Dethroned better lyrically than their other albums....

Thats kinda how I felt but been blasting it all week & it's grown on me tenfold.
I'm not one usually to pick holes in lyrics, most the acts I like have throwaway lyrics but when J&MC slow things down I just seem to notice it much more.
When they came back for those few gigs they were supposed to be half way through a new album, seems that is been scrapped now. Just like Jim Reid's solo album, he released a pretty good single which was exactly what you'd expect from him but then nothing was ever mentioned again. Saw him do a solo show, was pretty good, did Vegetable man on the encore was great.
