Good band, Murmer, Reckoning, Life's Rich Pageant and Automatic For the People are all great albums in my opinion, plus a handful of half decnt albums and a whole lot of great singular songs too.
Saying all that, i'm not that bothered about them splitting up, Accelerate & Collapse Into Now are both decent albums, but I don't really think they were ever going to go anywhere else interesting after that, a good time to bail out I think.
Thos remasters of the IRS albums really took them up a notch from the awful and muddy 80's CD versions, I listened to 'Reckoning' this morning and always forget how vibrant that record is.

Had only really heard their stuff since Up onwards, and all the big obvious tunes like Losing My Religion and the Automatic for the People stuff, but got their greatest hits for Christmas.
Really pleasantly surprised, so much of it is an obvious influence on bands like Teenage Fanclub and Idlewild and (maybe its because i've been listening to heaps of Neil Young recently) I can hear a bit of Neil Young in a lot of the pacier tracks as well.
Really like Pop Song 89, Sidewinder Sleeps Tonight, So. Central Rain, Stand and Get Up, a few good ballads on there as well, Country Feedback is top.
Also surprised at how well the Great Beyond has dated, remember it being all over radio, and initially liking it before becoming quickly sick of it, but heard it for the first time in years on first listen to these CDs and its fucking perfect pop.
