At times like these I miss having Ben on the board. Now is where I'd ask for all the b-sides/bonus tracks turtleed in 320.

Horrible isn't it, he basically did away with anything that was good about it in the first place and then added more shit to it.

Guess my review fits in here instead of the official reviews. I believe enough time has passed to form a proper review now.
----
Promises met. Promises lost. That summarizes my overall feelings for the album. I always had much higher expectations on Noel's album than Beady Eye's. I think we all had, no matter the fan boys of both camps. I think he feels rather schizofrenic at the moment. That track-by-track run through by him in the NME shows it clearly. On the one hand he wants to leave everything that's associated with Oasis behind him, on the other hand he's too afraid to take the steps in full. I do like what he said about Stop the Clocks. More about that later.
Everybody's On The Run - 9/10
Everything just falls in line on this track. The melody, the choir and strings. The words and Noel's voice. Loved it from the start but it has actually grown on me even more since then. Really, really enjoy the strings.
Dream On - 4/10
It shocks me that so many rate this so highly. I can't stand it. Noel's voice is the worst ever. It's worse than the Fame. Liam might have been able to lift it with his voice but this time Noel sinks it right down to the bottom. There's some melody in there that's worth saving so it's worth a couple of points, but not much more.
...If I Had A Gun - 10/10
The best song Noel has written in at least 10 years. It's perfect and I don't want to say much more about it as my words would just diminish what it gives and means to me. Maybe it has simply just hit a personal string within me that makes me way too biased towards it.
The Death Of You And Me - 7/10
It's a weird one. Sometimes I really enjoy it and sometimes I just want to skip it immediately when it comes on. But cudos to Noel for trying something different instrumental wise. He could have taken it one step further though and it would have lifted the song a bit more.
(I Wanna Live In A Dream In My) Record Machine - 8/10
It's a genuinely great song but something's lacking and I think it's Liam's voice. Add that and you would have had a great Oasis classic. As it stands now it's one of Noel's best solo efforts. And that's not too bad.
AKA...What A Life! - 7/10
Yes, it has a tendency to drag on but the freshness of its sound (Noel wise) is enough for me to enjoy it everytime I hear it. But once again I think he could have pushed it further and taken more risks with it and that it would have paid off.
Soldier Boys And Jesus Freaks - 7/10
It gets an extra point for Noel trying something fresh in regards to its lyrics. The trumpets are really lovely too. Finally something that adds something to a Noel song and not just something that feels totally forced as the choirs he insists on on several of the tracks.
AKA...Broken Arrow - 9/10
It doesn't have the greatest melody, it doesn't have the greatest lyrics nor the greatest vocals. But the sum of its parts really makes it stand out on this album. As someone wrote earlier, a relative to Part Of The Queue (which by the way I hope he will play live). It feels very fresh and relaxed. Nothing feel forced during the song and that's something Noel's songs have lacked for quite some time.
(Stranded On The) Wrong Beach - 6/10
If Broken Arrow sounded fresh this just sounds forced. The vocals are not as bad to my ears as some make them out to be, but the song is just not much to applaud. A simple B-side in the golden years.
Stop The Clocks - 7/10
I have never seen the greatness in Stop The Clocks and I have a hard time doing it still. But this is the definite version I've heard so far. So at least that's something. And I really like Noel's words in that NME article: "But I probably won’t ever revisit it. It’s kind of like a gift, clearing the decks for what comes next, the last postcard from the Oasis years."
Let's hope he sticks to those words. Because if he does, his next album (excluding the upcoming AA one) will have the risks and the freshness that is lacking on this album.
