Alright, I want a non partisan discussion on this so considered posting this in the general music section. Decided to post it here because the only people with anything to say about it are posting in here already/ have listened to the leak.
Imagine Oasis never called it quits, and only one album was released. What would be the best combination of songs on a single album. I'd be interested enough to hear your views on that alone, but to take it a step further, I'm going to lay both albums side by side and pick a single track for each slot, based on what number the track is on the album.

Totally unfair since I've only listened to Noel's album about three times, and I've listened to BDI countless times.
*if this is confusing, I just put the ones that lost up against the the extra BDI tunes in the order they occured if I started the album over.

did you laugh at mr david's same joke yesterday? mahoney's lost it big time, poor dude. agree with zfiddy, except I'd choose Dream On over Beat Goes On. was a big fan of this one when it was released but I just stopped listening to it for whatever reason. even Liam can't excuse the fact that Andy Bell writes songs. it's just fucking daft. and Dream On sounds epic. end of story. |

For a 10 song album I'd have the following: 1. Everybody's On The Run 2. Four Letter Word 3. Beatles and Stones 4. The Roller 5. Bring the Light 6. Record Machine 7. In a Bubble With a Bullet (or whatever it's called) 8. Wigwam 9. Three Ring Circus 10. The Morning Son I'd maybe include World Outside My Room as a hidden track at the end  |

how do you rate each album, grimes? DGSS surprised the hell out of my, because to be honest I had assumed that Oasis minus noel = some sad shit. But Liam pulled it off. Musicly I think BDI is fresh, while still paying homage to everything that made Oasis great. But it didn't really feel like an Album, more a collection of songs. The lyrics are at times are awesome (verses of Beat Goes On, 4 Letter Word) but overall BDI has more 'really embarassing' lyrics.* Lyrics that make my friends take the piss out of me for liking their music. But I don't give a shit what them people say, I dig it. 8/10 NGHFB surprised me as well, but maybe I just had too high of hopes for it. I expected a 10/10 masterpiece from Noel, especially after the songs he laid down for DOYS. I don't think he quite got it. Partially, the production is to blame, I'd have loved to see a less polished take on the album, maybe a more folksy, bare bones take on a few of the songs. But who knows, maybe they tried and liked this direction more. Overall, better lyrics, better songs, killer album, Noel's still the daddy of Oasis. 9/10 Two great albums, loved BDI live, Liam's a god, let's see how Noel does. Let's see how I feel in a couple months after I've listened to Noel's album more. Still only heard it three times. *This is why Bring the Light didn't make the cut. Decent song, fucking horrible lyrics. Yeah Liam, you're fuckin tough. Good for you. Now are you going in, coming down or getting out? Goes nowhere, unless you wanna go to place where chicks sing 'baby c'mon' a million times. Its almost a paradoy of Oasis by the end. You love it? Good on you. Not my cup of tea. |
