7 minutes seems unnecessarily long since it doesn't really go anywhere but quite liked that on first listen.

This is more like it!
(Although the wife said it sounds like "unbelievable"...)

I like it, feels way too obvious but after all for one I'll settle for this.

yeah this is an improvement. reni and mani sound loads better in this and musically it has that real roses funk/vibe going on which is great to hear. still think lyrically its fairly poor and agree it doesnt need to be 7 minutes but yeah i'll have this.

Agreed with Mahoney in that it feels very obvious but this exactly the sound you want from The Stone Rose in 2016.
I thought at 7 minutes it would outstay it's welcome but it didn't. It plods along nicely with the rest of the band riding on Reni's loose and groovy beats,
Diving in for my 2nd go right now.

You'd think in band meetings they'd sit Ian down and gently say, "Bruv, we've been talking. Ummm, we think it might be nice, you know, to take this thing down, you know, the band and that, down an instrumental route from now on. By all means hum along but we really don't think we need any more lyrics ANYMORE EVER PLEASE"

leaps and bounds better than that first travesty, it actually has a groove to it. still nothing great but this injects a bit of hope for the album.

Liked that. The lyrics (and to a lesser extent the music) does sound a little contrived but it's much better than All For One. It actually sounds like the stone roses and not an oasis covers band. real edit: Still not enough to make me go to the gigs next week

Good man Stocks, may it rain on the Squares & the squires!
I agree that it sounds contrived, in the same way that Primal Screams "It's Alright, It's OK" sounded like a desperate attempt to revisit past glories, but I can't blame them for going for the tried & tested sound which for the most part, they've managed to pull off. It definitely loses steam around the 5 minute mark, I feel it should veer into somewhere a bit more interesting around that time rather than the predictable route as the track kind of feels flat by the end. Also Ian's lyrics aren't his best, but hearing the other 3 playing together is a real joy that was so blatantly missing from All For One where the drums could've been anyone and you could barely hear Mani. If the lazy cunts manage to make an album & it can be of this kind of quality I'd be more than happy.
7/10

I really didn't like it but in the context of the album it worked really well.

Yeah, the way they sequenced that album was really clever. I wasn't too keen on the song when they released it, then at the end of the album it made sense.

I've only just heard this. Really like it on first listen.
I don't think it sounds contrived - this is what you want from a band with three great players in it, stretching themselves. All For One could have been written by any no-mark guitar band. This is decent. Not amazing, but enjoyable and reassuring in equal measure.

Just listening to some Roses now whilst Jess is getting ready to go to the gig. I know these gigs are a bit shit (the people steaming past my flat on the way to the stadium look like wankers) but i'm feeling in a big Roses vibe now and wish I was going
