Anyone and everyone wears those Roses t-shirts nowadays, I'm pretty sure you can even buy them in Primark, haha (oh and bootcut jeans are top value in there hence why I know!!! Mobody else seems to buy bootcut anymore, I'm such a rebel)
Not gonna lie though, I had a bit of a weird moment when I saw a college girl wearing a jumper with the old Oasis logo splashed across it recently, probably also for sale in Primark. Just wait til I see somebody in an Elliott Smith top - erection oot.

Man, the Roses have really shit on their legacy now. Wish they'd never reformed. Awful ain't it? Amazing what a few years can do. I wish I'd stopped after Barcelona, it was a perfect weekend, perfect gig. I want Ian back solo, REAL BAND

Saw him in new york in 2005, right after he started throwing roses songs back into the set, and when he was at the height of his 'stop the same song three times because he wasn't satisfied with the sound' phase. One of my cherished concert experiences, being in the front row while he stood on the top of the drum riser while the bassline to adored kicked in...
Fuck the roses if they don't come to canada.

the most annoying thing for me about this reunion is that it's rendered my waterfall t-shirt unwearable. They're a total embarrassment these days. A bit harsh, no? The shows have been good, generally. If they produce a passable album by next summer I don't see what the issue is. People called for them to reunite for years and years. So they did, and have done it with a bit of class (they've given zero interviews, remember, apart from that one press conference). Yeah the ticket prices have been high, but no more so than what other large arena acts charge. I think the issue for people on here is they've become more popular and they only play large stadiums. But what else were you expecting? Three albums by now? Be realistic. Bands don't sell albums anymore. There's a reason The Boss plays stadium tours every year, and it's not because he enjoys visiting Wembley.

Re: Browno solo. I must have seen him 6 or 7 times, and enjoyed every show. But by the end he was really scraping the barrel with new material. Illegal Attacks, anyone? I shudder to think of the sort of thing he would be producing by now if he was still going on his own. He'd probably be appearing at those horrendous Madchester nights.

All For One is average but it's not an embarrassment tho. I genuinely like Beautiful Thing.

Completely didzagree on all for one, for me it sounds like a Gem Archer Beady Eye B-side at best, about as embarrassing as they come. Beautiful thing is a good tune (nothing more, nothing less), I don't think anybody is disputing that. The problem here is that this month sees the FIFTH anniversary since the press conference where they announced they were returning. Nobody was expecting three albums by now.. but surely an album in FIVE FUCKING YEARS is not an outrageous expectation?
Doing zero interviews does not show "a bit of class". Let's face it, the only new music we had was completely half-arsed, a few days in the studio to knock out something quickly to ensure people who had their doubts regarding new music would be fooled into splashing the cash on more over-priced stadium gigs. I really wouldn't associate class with corporate gigs for Adidas, V festival & playing T in the Park twice.
It's just really sad to see a band that used to stand for something & would often spit at the thought of a band like U2 existing, only to slowly but surely turn into them. Mind you, at least U2 release a new LP every once in a while.
I just find your blind loyalty a bit shocking. Especially as somebody who has come out in the past against bands doing anniversary/full album performance tours, yet you are happy to see the Roses perform almost the exact same set every couple of years when they roll up in a stadium or a field. At least when I get ripped off to see Springsteen or Neil Young I know they won't be playing 90% the same set I saw a few years previously.
They could've easily done an extensive UK tour of reasonable capacity tours after Heaton Park, at the sort of price that isn't taking the piss. £40 a ticket, 15 dates around the UK, 4,000 capacity a night. I'm pretty sure they'd still be making a pretty penny. But they've become lazy & greedy. Something that I never thought I'd be saying about the Stone Roses.
So if they do finally release an album (which I'd imagine won't be this year) it'll be at least SIX years in the making... I think it'll have to be something slightly better than "passable" for it to have been worth the wait.

It's not so much blind loyalty, more I had pretty low expectations from the start as to what they would do. I'm not surprised in the slightest it's taken them so long to produce anything in the way of new music. They've always been chaotic behind the scenes. And I stand by my belief the gigs have been great. I went into the Ethihad thinking it could be a nightmare (same set, shit crowd etc) but I came away buzzing. They always seem to pull it off on the big occasion (with the exception of Finsbury Park, it seems).
Yeah the lack of an album is shit, but I don't think that makes them an embarrassment. Everyone could have done without that last Stooges album, but it didn't make their comeback any less exciting.

For me the embarrassment is what they've turned into versus what they promised as cool as fuck teenagers with the world at their feet. They used to give interviews where they were laughing at rock n roll dinosaurs like the Rolling Stones, endlessly touring the same old material taking the piss. Now they're doing exactly the same! If they'd have stayed split up it would have been a nice 'what if' in a world where there's too little mystery these days. Now unfortunately we have an answer to that 'what if', and it's not a positive one. At least the Verve put an album out straight away, yeah it was largely shit but they did it. The Stone Roses are complete jokes now. 5 years touring the same songs around with only 2 throwaway new ones is pathetic. I can't believe so many people are still swallowing it. Although when you look at social media and ask people around who are going to these gigs the people who are still lapping it up seem to be in one (or all) of 4 camps: 1. Fans who are really new to their music (nothing wrong with that btw) 2. People that don't really like much music anyway and just listen to the radio 3. People who are just total fakers and go along with whatever is hyped at the time 4. Scottish people without sense or reason

Taken from their Big Issue second coming interview
It may sound like a cliché coming from the lips of lesser bands, but when the Roses say that they never want to forget their working-class roots, you believe them. “The aim is to do as much for people as you can,” says Ian. “And not become a martyr to the cause. We’ll never lose touch. And we’ll never sell out and play Wembley either.” “I definitely won’t,” says Mani. “Not unless Manchester United sign me on.”
