June 15, 2005 outside of the Koolhaus in Toronto before the private Oasis gig sponsored by Molson. There were only 100 or 200 tickets to be won through cases of Molson Canadian. Needless to say, the majority of people in attendance were there for the free food and beer and NOT for Oasis. My friend (who owns a pub about an hour outside of Toronto) begged his Molson sales rep for tickets. The day before the show we got the call that he (unbelievably) had secured a pair of passes to the show. We were standing outside waiting for the venue to open when Liam walked from the tour bus to the front entrance. He stopped to sign a few autographs (he signed my pass). It was at this point when I realized this would likely be my only opportunity to ever speak to the man. I wanted to speak to him sensibly, but also say something that made it obvious I was a huge Oasis fan. Now, knowing that a couple of nights earlier Liam had lost his voice and walked off stage at some festival in Germany, I decided to go for it. Bampot: Liam, massive fan, love the new album, 'Love Like A Bomb' is brilliant. Liam: Cheers, we've got loads more coming for the next album too. (Finishes signing my pass). Bampot: Thank you so much. I hope your throat feels better tonight. ( ) Liam: Whatcha on about? Bampot: I mean, I know you lost your voice the other night in Germany and had to walk off... Liam: What, you think I walk off stage cos it's a fun thing to do? Nah, I walk off stage when me throat goes you silly cunt. (Enters venue) Needless to say I was shell shocked. However, we were front row (and there was no barrier at this small club) so I was basically 3 feet in front of Liam for the entire show. He saw throughout the gig that I was obviously a massive fan and not a cunt. Had a beer after the gig with Phil Smith and Jason Rhodes when Liam strolled over. He came right up to me, gave me a high five handshake and said "yer alright mate, yer alright." Met Noel briefly and then left. What a night.

I was there when that happened. Unless it was someone else who had a go at him as well, either way he was pretty cunty when someone asked him if he was gonna finish the gig with a reference to that show. The show your talking about when he walked off stage was in Italy at the Heineken Festival.

I remember you were there- you were going mental because your camera wouldn't work. He obviously took my comment out of context because I wasn't trying to have a go at him.

I remember that gig -- was annoyed that they were playing to a bunch of non-fans in such a small venue. Glad to hear some proper fans went. I got to see Noel/Gem/Andy do that 5 song acoustic set that afternoon for the Edge (you could only win tickets on the radio). Front row too. Was their first performance of One Way Road and Live Forever in a while. I remember darting off right after it ended like an idiot only to hear that the three of them came out to chat/sign shit for fans outside after and was pretty gutted. Only managed to get Gem to sign my DBTT sleeve and find Andy's plectrum on the floor of the studio in the fleeting moments as they left the 'stage' after the session The show that Friday at Molson Amphitheatre was decent though, got to the front.

Aye, I was in the front as well. I believe that night at the Amphitehatre was the first ever live performance of 'Love Like A Bomb'. I listened that that Edge acoustic gig on the radio and was cursing when Noel was about to play 'Rockin' Chair' but decided not to when no one seemed overly excited by the prospect of it.

Fuck, I was at a loss for words when he suggested Rocking Chair, barely able to react to it before he said he was joking (he'd been doing such lame/safe acoustic sets around then). Cruel joke... OWR has nothing on it. Glad he later did RC in like 2009, but don't think there's a decent recording of it.

I changed my mind if you were Canadian or Scottish 2,000 times, turns out you were both. Anyway, stop posting and get to work.
