On soundcloud.com Daniel Hughes 3 if Anyones arsed, sort of a coral-y one (with a bit ripped of Simon diamond, with an old oasis rumoured album title if I remember!) and two country songs....

Daniel,
it would have helped to have the direct link to those songs, so people could listen to them just by clicking once instead of going to soundclous/search etc etc. This might be the reason you're not getting any feedback yet.
By the way, I took the time to listen to some of them and I really like your voice. Is that your natural way of singing or you're forcing it? It reminded me of Kevin Coyne (youtube him, you might like him). As for the songs, it sounds like you have a knack for effective melodies, so well done! I especially liked the blues-y one (When Humans Where Monkeys?) -- it's very hard to do a blues song and keep it interesting for more than 30 seconds. I really (really!!) recommend you to write songs with less chords -- let that very expressive voice of yours do most of the job and get rid of those "squared" guitar strums. It works so much better when you let a chord ring and just sing on it (like you do on Ain't That the True, 30th to 40th second). Keep writing because you are good!

Tit, I never claimed to be a singer! I just bashed them out, and yeah I know most of them are written with the same chords, who cares can easily change the keys etc. everyone's a critic haha!

I liked your voice -- for real. I found it very expressive. There's no need to act like I was kidding you, I was serious.

so you ask folk to listen to your songs but don't bother giving us the link. Then when 1 decent person decides to go find your songs and give you some fairly decent feedback you call them a 'tit" good one

Great thread.
"You have a really good voice" "Tit, I never claimed to be a singer"
"Damn, you're pretty hot walking there on the catwalk" "Tit, I never claimed to be a model"
"Fucking hell, your first touch and passing are amazing" "Tit, I never claimed to be a footballer"
"I really like that film you shot" "Tit, I never claimed to be a director"

Sorry I thought he was being sarky!!!! My voice is pretty monotone and then the thing about using "less chords" when all the songs on there are g,d,c (albeit with capos) and then the blues one is just one verse repeated and he said something about blues songs being repepative!!!!

And as regards the link I don't know how to post one, didn't think it'd be that much of an effort to type the user name in!!!! But sorry anyway!

Nice one for the link. Stop being so defensive Dan! People are lazy, these days no link is like asking them to go out and buy it or something. shenandoah always provides great feedback to peoples songs on here, he certainly isn't taking the piss.
I'm listening now & this is good shit man. Master of one is great. You should definitely group a batch of songs together as an EP or record or something , yellow peril is awaiting. I'm still trying to sign up Jimmy to the prestigious label before somebody else snatches him though I feel the Team Noel/Liam Saga has ruined the chances of such a beautiful partnership.
Just from a minute or 2 sample your songs are quality, I think the upbeat country numbers seem the strongest.
Always seems the easiest way to get people to listen is to group a batch together and just say yeah thats an EP/album rather than bandcamp/myspace links and whatnot.

DanScouse is not performing any live shows until he has sorted out his contractual obligations. Please sign up to the yellow peril mailing list for future tour dates.

Mr David, no not at the mo. ive played in bands before playing bass and done a handful of gigs (including one disastrous one that bobothy was witness to in the Zanzibar circa '04!) but I've never had any confidence in my voice and being in a band is almost impossible..arranging rehearsals etc around people's lives

being in a band is almost impossible..arranging rehearsals etc around people's lives thats only true because you're trying to start bands with the wrong people...

theres literally hundreds. (not literally) but if you want to play at one its the easiest thing. mate puts one on in aintree on weds and in crosby on thurs at the moment dotted around the centre theres a couple every night. the lomax for example has re-opened and has a few on, they are always looking for people to fill slots.
