I always look at the CD's in the charity shops being sold for 3 for a pound and think it is kind of sad seeing them being so worthless now. It's also tragic when I think just how much I spent back in the day on them.
What is amusing is going to poundland where they now second hand CD's "Restored", basically cleaned and resealed into plastic. Everytime I go in there it is as if they have acquired my entire collection from around 2004, it's all Embrace, Zutons, Coral, Ocean Colour Scene & Reef.

I still have a load of CDs in boxes. I never listen to them, but I can't bring myself to throw them out. I do have a few lying around that I will play on my stereo from time to time.
Can I ever see a CD revival? Nah.
But then again, by far the trendiest indie labels in Glasgow love cassettes. Some of the best EPs of recent years have been cassette only. I guess they are very cheap to produce.
I picked up a few of the fabled NME compilation cassettes from the 1980s the other week. The track listings still sound great - some proper 60s nuggets. I may start a thread.

Mine are all up in the loft in huge boxes. They are worth so little that they aren't worth selling off, one day I'll get them down and feel nostalgic about the time I spent my dole money on the debut from The Shining & Mechanical Wonder by OCS.

The Beta Band are finally reissuing their albums on vinyl over the next year. Or in the case of The Three EPs, finally issuing it on vinyl for the first time ever. Tempted to pick it up when it's out next month.

I've been going to boot sales loads the last year or so (great for kids books and toys #soapydads) and in all that time found fuck all decent vinyl. Anything good I did find I either had or was overpriced.
This weekend I finally made a couple of purchases though. Yesterday I got Bob Dylan Basement Tapes for 4quid and today I got Miles Davis Circle in the Round for 3quid.

Nearly 2 years since the last update on this thread!
Had a bit of a blow out in the last couple of weeks- which I usually do around my birthday.
Picked up the new Quelle Chris on v.limited (150) pink vinyl. The german website I use (hhv.de) has their own exclusives and this was one.
Also, Yorkston/Khan/Thorne - Navarassa (nine emotions), Stevie Wonder- Innervisions (finally), Eric B and Rakim- Paid in Full (finally), John Coltrane- A Love Supreme.
And the best birthday present ever- Streetsounds Essential Electro 9 record box set. For anyone that doesn't know the series, there were brilliant compilations in the early 80s of electro and very early hip hop. Truly essential listening for anyone into that scene back then. This box set has the first 5 records of that series plus 4 other spin offs. It was released in 1984 and never reissued. There's a couple of decent copies kicking around on discogs and i managed to grab a really nice copy. I've been coveting this since age 12.
Plus today's record store day specials: John Grant - Queen of Denmark (pink limited ed. Vinyl), Leo's Sunshipp- We Need Each Other (yellow limited ed. Vinyl) and The Libertines- Up The Bracket (orange marbled limited ed. Vinyl).
Also in last couple of months the Art Brut- Bang Bang Rock N Roll ltd gold vinyl, The US Girls record, a couple of signed Cocteau Twins records and a limited ed. copy of Thee Oh Sees- Mutilator...
Now come on JP, Karl, Kev and others, get this thread resurrected.

As Karl knows, I have developed a bit of an addiction. Had records arrive most days in the post for the entirety of lockdown.

I managed to curb my vinyl buying over the last 18 months, there was a time when i was spending way too much; so been quite good, but yeah, gone a bit made during lockdown. Was fortunate enough that my job wasn't effected and i've been working from home. So been saving loads of cash and just ended up spending loads on records, mostly egged on by Karl & JP

Really love the new Strokes LP.
I’ve had a clear-out when bored during lockdown. In the process I’ve found loads and loads of vinyl I bought about 15 years ago and largely forgotten about. Some great 7” singles.

If you're really lucky, Chrissie will play guess the Smiths singles with you on What's App.

I do own a lot of 7” Smiths vinyl singles! All bought for a fiver a pop I think back in about 2005. I should have sold them before Morrissey went full fascist.

Is vinyl buying an addiction? If so, why? I think I was very briefly affected.
