republic of ireland losing to luxembourg. :D

Coming into tonight Luxembourg had won just three of their 124 away matches in EURO/World Cup qualifiers (D10 L111) and were winless in their last 28 away qualifying matches (D6 L22) since a 2-1 win over Switzerland in September 2008. :-X

Alphonso Davies ballon d’or now.

I’ve watched from afar at the ineptitude of the English FA and the corruption and stupidity of the FAI, but there isn’t much that compares to the absolute embarrassing incompetence of Soccer Canada. We haven’t even come close to making a World Cup since 1986. In fucking CONCACAF!?!?

"Gareth Southgate will be able to pick a 26-man England squad at Euro 2020 instead of 23 after Uefa’s national teams committee recommended the expansion due to pressures on players caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The move will give Southgate the chance to pick some players who were on the fringes of his squad or who will only have recently returned from injury. It should also provide more flexibility for teams if squads are affected by a Covid outbreak."

Good news given that he'd inevitably make a boneheaded decision to take Dier instead of Sancho or Grealish otherwise (still not entirely convinced he won't fill up the extra 3 with 3 right backs insteads)

Had a go at a 26 man squad based on who he's likely to pick and who I'd like to see in it:

Henderson, Pickford, Pope

TAA, Walker, Trippier or James
Shaw, Chilwell, Saka
Maguire, Stones, Coady, Mings

Rice, Phillips, Mount, Henderson, Bellingham or Ward-Prowse (both if Henderson's out)
Foden, Grealish, Sancho, Sterling, Lingard

Kane, Calvert-Lewin, Rashford

Injured?: Gomez, Barnes
Manager not interested: Wan-Bissaka
