I'm being deadly serious. His voice is whining shit that sounds like it's been through a computer filter a thousand times. Of course I suppose you can reply with a video of him singing live but I don't really care because he's songs are fucking rubbish.
Whoever wrote that Pitchfork review is a mug.

It's as if every once in a while the lord looks down on me & my amazing taste and says 'I'll catch you out mahoney, I'll catch you out' & invents an artist who is clearly shit and has everybody big them up to see if I fall for it. Well, I'm I tell you now, you & the man upstairs are not going to catch me out. The song you've posted happens to be by far the best song on his album, which in reality sounds like someone poorly imitating prince for 30 seconds then ultimately going nowhere with it. Yeah, he can hold a note but he still has a god awful whining pitch that does nothing other than make him sound like a right bitch. Fair play to those who enjoy that kind of thing but I'll stick to Curtis Mayfield if I want to hear someone sing with an ounce of passion.
But hey, I can look past an artificial soulless miserable bitch of a voice but unfortunately his songs are even worse.
Great live version of the dilemma

Awww man, taking lyrics out of context is almost as lame as posting a review from pitchfork to back up a point Anyway- it's good that we've all agreed that you're wrong and your ears are made of cloth. Oh, and it's a shame Curtis isn't alive today- cos he'd so be a fan

Tell you what, I'm gonna take the being a lame cunt thing a little further and play the 'I've been listening to soul music for 25 years' card. So anyway, I've been listening to soul music for 25 years, and i can't remember a debut album as good as this in a long time. I'd give my left tezzer for him a janelle Monae to write an album together.

If you've been listening to soul music for 25 years then you should know better Though I'm sure if Curtis was here today he'd probably be bigging up Frank Ocean and have a new album out with Rick Rubin producing with guest spots from Lana Del Ray & Momford & sons in a desperate attempt to appear to be down with the kids. Every single year I have one of these artists. Theres always something that is universally praised which I try out and just cannot understand how anybody can be enjoying it on any kind of level.. Last year was James Blake, Animal Collective before that & Battles before that. FUNNY HOW HE REVEALED HE WAS GAY 2 WEEKS BEFORE HIS ALBUM WAS DUE OUT [/troll]

I'm with you completely on James Blake- tedious music, Animal Collective had their moments, but overrated I agree.
But this is a whole different level to either.
I'd like to say the gay thing is completely irrelevant- as the album is outstanding without that knowledge- but releasing that letter was probably necessary for people to understand a lot of the album. I don't beleive it was a cynical move, as it could've backfired badly in the black music industry- and there are enough subtle references and clues to his sexuality that now reveal themselves on the mixtape (released way before the letter) that would've been completely overlooked if the letter wasn't published.
Anyway, it's a moot point. It could've been released by a blind, one legged, mongol hermaphrodite- it's still an ASTONISHING album.

Well obviously no one can argue wi 'Kelz' being the man. I think this song probably contains all of my favourite lyrics ever:
"Now the moral of the story is cuff your bitch, cos hey, I'm black, handsome, I sing, plus I'm rich, and I'm a flirt"
Definitely a moral to that story.

pulled out of all forthcoming european shows, including V
"Frank Ocean has cancelled all forthcoming European festival appearances, including V Festival and Bestival.
The 'Channel Orange' singer was scheduled to perform at Way Out West festival last night (August 11) but announced he was cancelling his appearance as well as his future festival shows.
Ocean has also pulled out of his opening slot on the Coldplay European tour, which was due to begin in Copenhagen on August 28. He made his announcement via a message released by Way Out West festival organisers.
The statement read: "Let me start by saying I feel like an asshole right now, but a tough decision had to be made in regard to my schedule over the next few months. The casualties of that decision include my appearances at upcoming festivals in Europe and my opening slot on the European leg of the Coldplay world tour. Sorry as fuck, I'll be back if you have me."
It is currently unclear what has prompted the singer to cancel his European shows, however, Ocean cut his performance short at Oslo's Oya Festival on Friday (August 10) after only four songs. Fans in attendance were informed that he was suffering from vocal problems.
This comes just a week after Ocean cancelled a show in Detroit without any explanation. The singer also no-showed at the recent Lollapalooza festival in Chicago.
Affected Frank Ocean shows:
Helsinki, Flow Festival (August 12) Pukkelpop (16) V Festival (18-19) Paris, Rock en Seine (24) Copenhagen, Parken Stadium (28) Stockholm, Olympic Stadium (30) Paris, Stade de France (September 2) Cologne, Rheinenergie Stadium (4) The Hague, Malieveld (6) Bestival (7-8) Munich, Red Bull Stadium (12) Prague, Slavia Eden Stadium (16) Warsaw, National Stadium (19) Hannover, AWD Arena (22)"

It amazes me the guy is from New Orleans and all he can come up with is a load of sub-Michael Jackson style crap.
