Thoughts on the latest episode?
I was a bit disappointed to be honest. It built up really well but I think the outcome of the episode wasn't very believable. An enquiry into the culture of leaking?! Leaking is something that has happened in politics for decades, doesn't in of itself cause outrage in the public and isn't just specific to the UK either.
Obviously the inspiration was Leveson but I just feel an enquiry like this would never happen in British politics, especially as leaks can sometimes be seen to be beneficial.
Also the Lib Dem characters do get on my tits a bit, Adam is alright but Fergus is shite, when he gets angry he's all volume and no wit, compare that to some of the best characters on the show and its the opposite.
Still enjoyable and better than most things on TV, but now this series is defined by an enquiry I don't think is particularly believable (or would be even warranted in real life) it does take something away a bit. Still maybe next weeks' hour special will change my mind.

Worst episode of the series, directed by Chris Addison. Coincicunt?
Back to its charmless 'worst' (ie 8/10) I thought. From the sublime downfall of Rebecca Front's character last ep to this was a heavy old bump. It was clearly a set-up episode though, Ive a feeling next week's hour long effort will give us a better idea on how to look back on this one. Episode 1 was no great shakes but 2, 3 and 4 got good, even better and then phenomenal, I'm hoping for the same again

I think i've realised my issue with this show - it's the dialogue. People simply don't talk like these people with their endless clever-clever/ wildly offensive insults and constant sniping.
It's just not realistic.
It's still a quite a good show though.

That was absolutely brilliant. How many other shows could fill an hour with one scene and still have you on the edge of your seat throughout?

Well, that was a pretty good way to end a show wasn't it? I don't know if I'd want to know what happens from there, in the same way that I wouldn't want to know if Tim'n'Dawn's relationship carried on after the end of The Office, or if the Trotters kept their millions (Edit: ah wait). This series has certainly had its moments but I'm not sure if it's been the best all round - at times it's been more drama than comedy, which is a big change from the days before Chris Langham was done for webnoncing. Armando Ianucci, take yet another bow. Can't wait to see his next project. (Btw, is Veep worth a watch?)

Final episode was really good, the first time we saw Tucker's mask really slip although it was coming off in the last episode.
That speech to Ollie was one of the show's greatest moments. Although I'm really glad they never showed it, I did wonder about Tucker's life outside politics and though from what he said it was just as we suspected - non existent - you could see the sadness that the job he'd sacrificed the rest of his life for (the "no children" remark was particularly telling) was falling apart.

Didn't Mannion say the Government had leaked Tickle's records in the 5th episode? And why would Malcolm leak them anyway? Surely it makes the government's decision stronger if he had acted irrationally to the policy. Bit confused.
If it's supposed to ironic that he's taking the blame for the other mob's leaking then it's quite subtle.

Tucker retired from top tier Politics, can't have a new series without him, no show without punch FFS, be interesting to see how he comes back like, be great if he cock punches Ollie.
