"George Lucas has revealed that original Star Wars cast members Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher are "already signed" for JJ Abrams's Episode 7.
Lucas sold his company Lucasfilm to Disney for $4 billion last year, but will be involved in a consultancy role as the franchise moves forward with producer Kathleen Kennedy.
In a Business Week article profiling Disney's relaunch of Star Wars, Lucas was asked if the original cast will be involved and if he notified them of the Disney deal in advance.
"We had already signed Mark and Carrie and Harrison - or we were pretty much in final stages of negotiation," he said. "So I called them to say, 'Look, this is what's going on'. Maybe I'm not supposed to say that. I think they want to announce that with some big whoop-de-do, but we were negotiating with them."
Lucas then appeared to back-track further, adding: "I won't say whether the negotiations were successful or not.""

I really wish they wouldn't bring them back. Ford has been phoning in his acting performances for over a decade now, Hamill looks like a goblin, and I'm convinced that Carrie Fisher is slowly melting.

Maybe they can insert that into the story, they went to the melting planet or something like that.

Star Wars 7 casting calls:
Late-teen female, independent, good sense of humour, fit.
Young 20-something male, witty and smart, fit but not traditionally good looking.
A late 20-something male, fit, handsome and confident.
A 70-something male, with strong opinions and tough demeanour. Also doesn't need to be particularly fit.
A second young female, also late teens, tough, smart and fit.
A 40-something male, fit, military type.
A 30-something male, intellectual. Apparently doesn't need to be fit.

"Ryan Gosling, Zac Efron and Leonardo DiCaprio have all met with Disney for roles in Star Wars: Episode VII, according to a new report.
Latino Review claims that DiCaprio was ruled out following his meeting, but Efron and Gosling are still in the running.
Gosling reportedly met with Disney producers and director JJ Abrams in relation to the role of Luke Skywalker's son, while Efron met for an unconfirmed role."

I would like them to use mostly unknown actors, for some reason.

I'm not too arsed who they cast, more concerned about if the script is any good.
My dream would be to limit the crew to the same technology used in the 70s so it looks all sexy and old.
