Changed my mind. Its worse than the debut. The lies in the press about it make it worse. Sitek has only produced half the album, its not 'cosmic rock' or whatever Gem decided to say that day. Its been a huge con from day one so people buy the album expecting something ''out there' in the words of Liam. The NME have lapped it up cos they know Liam sells copies. You are being conned. ;D
'This song sounds like the Beatles on acid''
Its all a lie. Mugs.

I think Flick of the Finger is cool and I'm a secret fan of Second Bite, it's so catchy and the intro is sex. I'm going to wait to hear a proper rip of all the other songs, but so far I like what I hear. I really don't care about how he sounds like live because I have no chance of seeing him live any time soon. If he sounds good on record, good enough for me.

It's only usually fans of a band who overthink new releases to such an excruciating degree, imagine obsessing over random details of a new album by a band you actually hate, that's some bad shit. Jimmy will end up in a white coat rocking back and forth, tormented by the power of the I.

Also, Face The Crowd has grew on me a little bit. It's place on the album is a bit odd; it doesn't really fit. But, it's a decent tune and the chorus part is mega.

And it's funny seeing how mad jimmy got / is getting just because people like the album, rolling out the CAPS LOCK and everything.

Is there a decent rip of Off At The Next Exit anywhere?

The first seven tracks (minus Face The Crowd) are really great imo. 8-10 is where it suffers a bit.

I refuse to download it until there's a 320 rip, minimum. Although me and Stocky would of course prefer FLAC.

If it's the same one I saw I don't think it's legit. It was added 3 days ago and the file size is even smaller then the one I got.
Anything legit 320 will be on Exy.

So far I like it. Some really good moments (Flick of the Finger, Iz Rite, Start Anew, Soon Come Tomorrow, Ballroom Figured) and some utter dirge as well, mostly lyrical which is absolutely to be expected from any band with Gem Archer getting writing credits tbf. I'll go with the trend of rating it track by track...
Flick of the Finger 8 Soul Love 6 Face The Crowd 6 Second Bite of the Apple 7 Soon Come Tomorrow 7.5 Iz Rite 7.5 I'm Just Saying 7 Don't Brother Me 5 Shine A Light 7 Ballroom Figured 7.5 Start Anew 8.5
Decent second album, could have been better if they'd spent a little more time on lyrics and probably a bit less time with acoustic guitars. It's certainly no "out there space rock" or whatever they said it'd be. I reckon 7/10 would be a fair rating for BE.

The album is out on the 5th in Japan (with the 6 bonus tracks) so shouldn't be long until a quality rip appears
