I watched a documentary with them on, they mentioned getting the train from fenchurch st to Baildon after doing their early gigs and getting beaten up when they got off for being dressed like poofs

Listened to the album for the first time.....meh. Why the fuck did they say it was "out there space rock" when it's anything but. An acoustic driven album with, least be honest, rubbish lyrics. I know we never really listened to Oasis for the lyrics but at least they had the music to compensate for the poor lyrics. This album doesn't sadly. It's not awful but it's just not that good. Disappointing tbh

some thoughts on the album Flick of the Finger - Absolutely brilliant, better than Four Letter Word. Love it, should have been a blueprint for the rest of the album 9.5/10 Soul Love - Also excellent, really catchy and maintains a nice brooding feel 8/10 Face The Crowd - Shite, tired pub rock 3/10 Second Bite of the Apple - Very nicely produced, if I'm in the right mood I like it a lot. Other times it can grate. 6.75/10 Soon Come Tomorrow - Dig this. Actually feels like a well written little song. 7/10 Iz Rite - its effortless feel is both its strength and flaw. Thankfully it's strengths prevail (and quite easily, it has to be said). someone very astutely mentioned that it sounded like a BHN b-side, it's full of that gamboling, wide open spirit and I could listen to it all day. If only they had put a the tiniest bit of thought into the lyrics... 7.75/10 I'm Just Saying - Not sure what I think about this. It has some cool breakdowns but ultimately its a bit forgettable. 6/10 Don't Brother Me - it's grown on me a fair bit the lyrics are still torturous (give peace a chance, really??? fuck off!) and over 7 minutes is hilarious but some lovely, almost irresistible, melodies going on. It balances out to an ok, if undernourished song. 6/10 Shine A Light - Another potentially really interesting song hampered by unimaginative content. Still decent and plods along nicely 6.5/10 Ballroom Figured - This seemed to get a bit of flack at first, not sure why? Once you've accepted that the "out there space rock" descriptions were so wide of the mark as to be beyond laughable, this is a lovely little tune. Great vocal from Liam. 7.5/10 Start Anew - Simple, gorgeous and affecting. could be a big hit too I reckon. 8/10 Ultimately it's a good album, musically great and well produced but it could have been so much more with just a smidgeon more care and thought

I've not listened to the record as a whole for a few days. I've went back and listened to some individual tracks; mostly the ones I didn't enjoy too much on first listen (Face The Crowd, Don't Brother Me & Ballroom Figured) They've all grown on me (some more than others) Face The Crowd - The chorus / breakdown (whatever it is) is great. The verses seem a bit plodding and unispiring. Cool guitar solo. Don't Brother Me - It's overall sound is quite beautiful but it's too long and the lyrics are honking. Ballroom Figured - Grew on me the most. A lovely little tune with a sweet, sweet vocal.
