 why all the hate for koko? drinks prices are fucking stupid, admittedly, but whenever i've been the sound has been good and it seems like a decent venue?

Always found the sound very hit and miss in there, well more 'passable & miss', you couldn't say the sound was ever good in there I don't think.
But I have seen some decent gigs there.

In order of annoyance
Drink prices
the sound is almost always shit
I tend to always struggle to get a good view there
nightmare to go for a piss and get back
had too many bad nights there to want to go back again
I don't like the smell of the building.

I got kicked out once during a club night for sneaking into sound desk bit opposite the entry doors and pressing lots of buttons on it.
They can fuck off. It was £4 a can in there 10 years ago.

Best/worst koko night, some kid fell off the balcony and nearly died, there was blood everywhere, I hadn't noticed and was dancing in a pool of his blood to razorlight They thought he was gonna die and kicked everyone out so club NME with the rifles playing was cancelled, the fucking cunt. |

Worst Koko experience was probably a club NME night were Supergrass were playing 'supported' by a band who had Carl Barat's sister in it, I think they were called the Fay Wray's. Anyway, i'd been to the club NME thing a few times before and headline band usually came on at about 10 and when they finished the club night would kick in. So dragged a load of mates along to see Supergrass and as the drink prices were notoriously horrendous, even five years ago (as already mentioned in this thread), we decided to stay in the pub until the last minute. Arrived in the venue at about 9:59 to catch Supergrass, the only real reason all my mates came along, only to walk into, literally, the last note of 'Lenny' and the band waving to the crowd and fucking off.. they had switched around and had gone on first, before the frankly awful 'Fay Wrays'.
A couple of hours later and £400 lighter, we all trudged home mightily peeved.

Got chased by a bouncer for pissing up one of the fire exits when I left once.
Baz has really made me angry, WHY KOKO?, WHY KOKO?? Fuck you Baz, look at all the bad memories you've brought up.
Me & Kev watched Neon Neon through a fucking glass wall because we couldn't get any closer, a glass wall! Also that time we saw the Fall and they weren't on until nearly 11 on a school night. Makes me so angry. Same happened when I went Chemical Brothers, doors at 7, they weren't on until 11, had to watch an hour long Zane Lowe DJ set, left early, man I was angry.
