I really dont get the hype? .. It was literrally a shithole, the floor was covered in piss/beer, its dark, dirty, and it was full of idiots.
And I was relatively sober aswel so I took it all in.

WTF? Of course the east end of Glasgow is a shithole, but the Barrowland is just about the greatest music venue on earth - it's got the keenest crowds and the best sound. I've got nothing against the ABC, but if you want a clean, anodyne, soulless venue then you should wait for Noel's arena tour.

I loved my one visit to the Barrowlands (to see the Libertines), can't remember anything good or bad about the sound but fuck me, the crowd were absolutely mental, I don't need much encouragement but an amazing crowd just totally sucks you into the spirit of it. Remember it was hotter than the sun in there and by the end of it I was so exhausted from the jumping around, drunk and ridiculously hot that I sat down at the back throwing up into empty pint pots. The Scots had been such warm hosts I didn't want to repay them by vomiting all over the floor.

the best gig venues tend to be shitholes though don't they, isnt that kinda the point?
as rod says, there's plenty enough souless pristine venues around now that suck the life out of gig going. i love nothing more than going to a venue with a sticky floor that doesnt look like its been cleaned in years.

Really struggled to get any today  . Working from 8 all week so it's an abso pain in the arse to put my life on hold for 25 mins staring at a big BE sign at 9am. Plus my work P.C runs I.E7 so that doesn't help. Hopes and prayers for Friday bbz x |

I got them pretty quickly through Ents24, the BDI website itself wasn't showing anything other than Presale Sold Out. Rhino failed in his attempts to get tickets for the Arctic Monkeys at the same time.
