While you fools are blowing each other to the new Daft Punk release, Boards of Canada released their first new material in nearly a decade!
New single is fucking great and their marketing approach from record store day to the various clues culminating in a listening party at a water-park in California have been awesome.
Top 5 Boards of Canada tunes
1. Aquarius 2. Kid for Today 3. Happy Cycling 4. Oscar See Through Red Eye 5. In a Beautiful Place Out in the Country

A band I've never really spent much time with.
What record of theirs is best to start with?

by "you fools are blowing each other to the new Daft Punk release" you mean most people slating the album and some people gently suggesting that it's decent, albeit a bit underwhelming? yep, you sure blew our tastes out of the water! if only daft punk had good marketing and PR...

Music Has the Right to Children and The Campfire Headphase are probably the best albums to start with, whereas In a Beautiful Place Out in the Country, Hi Scores and Trans Canada Highway are the EP's to start with.

Really, properly, looking forward to their new LP. For once I agree with Rolli - Daft Punk ain't in the same ball park as BoC.
For anyone not familiar with them, try the song below. It's the first thing I ever heard by them and it still blows me away.

They're the third best musical act to come out of Edinburgh. Right behind Josef K and The Wynd.

They're not Canadian? Now I feel almost as dirty as how I feel after seeing the 5-daily Daft Punk commercial..
forget that last sentence, but I always thought they were Canadian.

They're Scottish and their name is taken from nature like documentaries from the National Film Board of Canada. Voice-overs from Leslie Nielsen
