"LIAM Gallagher was sensationally named yesterday as the married British rocker accused of fathering a secret lovechild.
The ex-Oasis frontman, 40, was identified by a New York newspaper which says he is being sued for £2million by a writer.
The mystery blonde claims she gave birth to his daughter less than a year ago after a one-night stand.
But last night Liam — whose hits with Oasis include the classic album (What’s The Story) Morning Glory — started his own legal action against the US newspaper that named him.
The New York Post said Liam was at the centre of a court hearing in the city on Friday listed under “Anonymous v Anonymous”.
Magistrate Matthew Troy adjourned the hearing until later this month.
The woman was said to be a pretty writer in her 30s suing in the Manhattan Family Court for £2million.
It claimed she was considering DNA tests to prove her claim.
Both she and Liam — who is married to All Saints singer Nicole Appleton and already has three children — are being represented by top lawyers, it reported.
The mother had hired William Beslow, whose clients include Robert De Niro, Demi Moore, Nicole Kidman and the Duchess of York, it said.
On Some Might Say singer Liam’s side is said to be Raoul Felder who has acted for film director Martin Scorsese and former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani. Neither lawyer responded to requests for comment last night.
But a spokesman for Liam’s agent said: “Liam Gallagher’s lawyers are taking action against the New York Post.
“Further to that, we don’t comment on gossip like this.”
