There is nothing worse than pricks that talk or play with their phones throughout a film so the bigger the capacity the more higher the chance of somebody being a complete cock & ruining it for me. can't argue with that, although a few weeks back i went to a cinema near me which costs £16-20 per ticket and has a capacity of about 40 and STILL i was flanked with tossers talking throughout and one guy wearing a ridiculous fucking vinyl jacket that rustled whenever he moved. so i feel like that's just luck of the draw sometimes.

i'd only do it once in a while and i've never actually been annoyed with anyone talking or playing with phones in an IMAX and I easily get annoyed with that in the cinema normally. guess part of that is down to the fact that you are more enveloped in the sound and visuals and also that are less people likely to want to waste the money they shelled out by playing with their phone/talking.
the cost and booking ages in advance is gash though, maybe worth it for once or twice a year

I can understand the appeal for people with IMAX for sure. Though another reason I've never been too fussed is the type of films that the IMAX shows (prometheus, Bond, Gravity, whatever FUCKING superhero movie is out) are the type of films which I'm usually not very interested in. But then I am just a cheap cunt, I've got my unlimited cineworld card, as many films a month for £15.99

Maybe you could, I don't know, watch the film first and then diss the actors? Just an idea. yeah that's a bit of a weird one. which films of clooneys do you hate? he seems like he has pretty good taste for what he chooses/directs pretty much throughout his career. I'm not a huge Clooney fan myself, but I don't hate the guy. My problem stems from the fact that in 99% of his movies it feels like he's playing a role that was written for George Clooney. He doesn't become the character he's playing, the character he's playing becomes George Clooney. Whereas someone like Christian Bale, when he cares, literally becomes the character he's playing. You forget that it's Christian Bale on screen. Then you have Daniel Day Lewis who takes it to the next level. Clooney just has no range. He'll always be George Clooney in every role he plays. I guess that kind of annoys me.

It's called being a movie star, bro. That said I don't think you need to see the film to say that you don't like actors in it ana montanna, they've done quite a bit of fucking work between them to make a judgement on.

It's called being a movie star, bro. That's pretty much my point. He's a movie star, but not a great actor.

I've got a mate who hates Clooney as well, mainly cos his wife is sort of in love with him. I always go on about how good his films are FOR A LAUGH. I'm such a lad lol.

tbh, 3D is only a tiny part of what the imax experience is all about. it's mainly about seeing something on the biggest screen possible (blah blah sydney fuck off abs) with incredible sound. well worth doing at least once, imo. I wanted to see this film so thought I'd come in here to see what people thought, was going to see it at a normal cinema but then I read your post and had totally forgot about the Worlds Biggest Cinema Screen here. So yeah now we have booked tickets to see it in IMAX 3D as a result. Cheers

Enjoyed the film. It was visually stunning, some really great set-pieces, great cinematography. 3-d worked well when it was subtle, others grander moments(such as the teardrop) still felt really gimmicky to me. I'd like to see the film in 2D sometime soon to see just how much it added to the experience, I still think in 2D that it'd look superb. I also dug the lean running time, most big blockbuster films in space seem to always outstay their welcome but Gravity didn't have any unwanted fat & pretty much stuck to a almost B-movie plot throughout. I wish they'd of cast someone other than Bullock, I laughed out loud at her 'woof woof' scene, it was terrible. I know she was supposed to be the "rookie" who has the odds stacked against her to survive, but it did feel like spending 90 minutes with one of those annoying women in horror films who keeps falling over & being genuinely useless. The situation that the character was placed in was so severe that it'd of still worked perfectly with a stronger female character. Apparently Angelina Jolie was due to play this role originally, I'm not a big fan of her but I could imagine she'd of worked a lot better than Bullock. Having said that, it wasn't like Bullock ruined the film, it's not like this was an "actors" type of movie. Anyway, I liked it. Considering these type of films aren't my preference it managed to impress. Reading some reviews I still think people are going overboard with praise, it's a fantastic spectacle & though the narrative works fine I don't think it had enough outside of the visuals to be considered a GREAT film, but that's fine with me, I enjoyed the ride. 7.75
Unintended, I understand the point you are making with Clooney, but like Luke said, he's movie star, he's in these films because people want to see HIM. If you are not a fan that's absolutely fine. However, a great actor does not require a high level of range, Clint Eastwood has pretty much played Clint Eastwood throughout his entire career & you know what? He's fucking great at playing Clint Eastwood. Think of all the great character actors that pop up in small parts in 100s of films, they do so because they are great at being those characters. The "no range" thing to me would be like calling your star striker tarnished because he's really useless at defending set pieces. Of course having range is a great thing to have & it is amazing to watch an actor completely transform themselves from one film to the next, but it isn't always essential when casting. Gravity required someone to play a older, experienced character that would beam of confidence & Clooney ticks all those boxes.
Eddie, you've never seen From Dusk Till Dawn? I'm pretty sure you'd really like the film & Clooney in that one.
