Liam Gallagher has spoken about his upcoming solo album, saying that he “can’t be arsed” to write his own songs and would rather be part of a band.

Gallagher is set to release a solo album next year, while also remaining open to an Oasis reunion. Liam is reportedly mostly working on his solo debut alone, with help from only a handful of collaborators.

Speaking recently, Gallagher – who wrote several Oasis songs including ‘Songbird’ – admitted that he “can’t be arsed” to pen his own songs, explaining: “Noel was the songwriter of the band and I was the singer. I didn’t wanna be a songwriter. We can’t even fucking speak together; imagine writing a fucking song together.”

“I’m quite happy being the fucking cool bastard. I’m not arsed about writing songs – you do it because you have to,” he added, as reported by The Daily Star.

Describing the sound of his upcoming solo album, Liam said: “It’s a pretty ‘Working Class Hero’ kinda thing – Lennony vibe, you know what I mean. It’s like acoustic.”

“Then there’s a couple of rock and roll tunes on there, but it’s not Oasis man,” he continued. “It’s not fucking stadium rock, you know what I mean?”

Mat Whitecross, the director behind the Oasis Supersonic documentary, has spoken to NME in a new interview, revealing that he has heard music from Liam Gallagher‘s upcoming solo album and that it sounds “epic”.

Speaking to NME this week, Whitecross revealed that Liam played him his new album during a helicopter ride. “Well, I’ve got to say one of those bucket list moments in my life was when we got a helicopter to go the [Supersonic] premiere, he just turns to me and goes ‘Shall we listen to the new album then?’, then he pulls out these speakers and blasted it out as we were approaching Manchester.”

“It was epic,” the director added. “It just blew me away. I think everyone’s in for a treat. It’s fantastic.”

Asked how it compares to Oasis’ material, Whitecross replied: “I probably shouldn’t talk about it too much because it’s not my place to say, and it was demos that I listened to, he hasn’t finished it yet [but] it was very stripped down, very raw.”

Whitecross went on to say that the music “reminded me of The Velvet Underground“, adding: “I know it’s very fashionable to put people down in the public eye, but I think Liam’s as passionate about music now as he ever has been. If people gave the new album a proper fair and proper listen, they’re in for a treat.”

Details of Liam Gallagher‘s debut solo performance have been revealed.

Music Week now reports that Gallagher will perform a Give a Gig Week show for music charity Youth Music at TCOTU’s Bush Hall on March 28, 2017, as part of a bill that also includes Jess Glynne, Tom Odell and Plan B. Ticket details to be announced.

LIAM GALLAGHER TO PLAY OASIS BE HERE NOW TRACKS AT SOLO GIGS

Liam Gallagher is planning to revive a number of Oasis songs at his first ever solo shows this year, according to insiders.

The former Oasis frontman, who has announced dates across Europe so far this year, is believed to be rehearsing tracks from the band's 1997 Be Here Now album- some which haven't been performed live in two decades.


A source told Radio X: “He wants to give fans something they’re not getting from Noel.”
The insider adds that Gallagher believes his decision to revisit Be Here Now will attract fans desperate to hear some of their favourite Oasis tunes that haven't been played live in 20 years. They supposedly include No1 D'You Know What I Mean, My Big Mouth and ballad Don't Go Away. Liam is also said to be rehearsing Stand By Me, Born On A Different Cloud, B-side Listen Up, Bring It On Down (taken from Definitely Maybe) and Whatever.

Beady Eye's Flick of the Finger and The World's Not Set In Stone are also being rehearsed.

Despite his vow to play Oasis tracks, the source told Gordon Smart that Liam is very confident in his new solo material, and is planning a set to take to arenas.
While there's no confirmed release date for Liam Gallagher's debut solo album, the Oasis legend has confirmed live dates at the likes of Norway's Bergenfest, Serbia's Exit Festival, Lollapolooza Paris and Spain's Benicassim Festival.
