Hitting up that show tonight. Looking forward to it. Caught Gruff's solo show last year when he came through Portland. Good times.

Surely SFA are the most consistent band ever? They don't have one bad album.

Listening to the Guerrila 20th anniversary. Some interesting stuff spread on the bonus discs
Check It Out Rough Mix - Basically the same as the album version for the first 2 mins and then it really kicks in, some beach boy sounding harmony's appear from nowhere, techno sounds, cool drums. It's fucking cool Wherever I Lay My Phone - 10 minute long version, more hypnotic, like Can doing techno Hand In Hand - acoustic demo, think it is unreleased, The chorus features the "hand in hand we can break the command" from Frequency. Northern Nites Demo - straight up rock version like the "Big Star version" they were performing live in about 2008? John Spex - this is an early instrumental version of Lazerbeam. Has a big drum loop, but the structure is pretty much the same as it would end up. Interesting they had this in pretty much full form minus lyrics for like 6 years before releasing it. Some Things come From Nothing (Michael's Mix) 10 minute version. Bigger bassline, but TBH I think the version they ended up with at half its length was probably the right choice. that bass line especially towards the end though is proper.
Interesting period for the band really. Seems they were really into the idea of making something more dance orientated with long tracks. They could have left off the stuff they had planned to be longer/experimental & put stuff such as Mrs Spector, The Citizen's Band (technically on the record I know) & Misunderstanding in their place for a big pop record & then perhaps have made an EP/album of dance material. But or course, had they done this we wouldn't have the awesome album we got.
best band ever.
