John Cooper Clarke @ the Arches.
He did a 90 minute set! In front of about 400 people. First time I saw him he did about 20 minutes in front of about the same number of people. He must be back in fashion.
One highlight went something like this: "I've got the perfect title for a book being written by Bobby Robson's son about how to cope with the loss of his dad, and how he has now moved on in life. Because everyone loves a coping-with-adversity story don't they? Anyway, he should call it ''Over my Dad Bobby''.''
10/10

The Go! Team at the Liquid Room last night, took a few songs for the crowd to get into it but by the time they launched into The Power Is On everyone was keen. The new stuff sounded really good & they played most of the hits except Doing It Right, which they must have. Ninja was wearing nowt more than a sports bra and a pair of trackies 7/10

I am Kloot at exeter uni
slightly different to JP's, they started as the three piece then the further additions came on. they played for ages which is awesome. the songs sounded lovely, such a beautiful atmosphere. there were some paul wella wanna be cocks in front of us who had got in on guestlist and were just getting pissed and chatting the whole time which was annoying, but still.
highlights for me were to the brink, proof, i still do. I was a bit gutted that they didn't play same deep water as me because it is my favourite but never mind. lovely.
9/10

The Black Keys at the Aragon Ballroom Chicago IL December 30th 2010
One of the best bands I've ever seen. Dan Auerbach's stage present is off the hook along with Pat establishing himself as a top drummer.
9/10

proof really is one of the best songs ever written and so simple too. I would't put Proof in my top 5 Kloot songs tbh.

just seen two quality bands and was home by 9pm THIS IS THE LIFE.
went to uea, it was a white lies gig but i just went for the two support bands because ive seen white lies a couple of times before and they are fucking dreadful.
anyway active child id seen at latitude and really enjoyed. probably wernt quite as good tonight but still a top gig. a couple of guys from la making music on a harp with some electric beats and gay vocals. good shit. 8/10
then there was crocodiles, one of my favourite new bands of the last couple of years. id seen them once before supporting a place to bury strangers but they were even better tonight and seemed to really suit playing the big stage. the frontman sometimes veers a bit too much into rockstar pastiche though with his jagger moves and constant gobbing on the floor but the songs are so fucking good and sound brilliant live. 9/10

Asobi Seksu @ Mercury Lounge Was really excited about this gig for a variety of reasons. It was in a venue about the size of my living room, which can bring about the best or the worst in a band. This was just stellar. Despite it being EXTREMELY louder (perhaps the loudest show Ive ever been), I had a blast with everyone and was basically right at Yuki's feet for the majority of the show. So fucking hot. I probably actually would eat her shit. Great gig. Setlist was heavy on the new stuff as it was a release party, but the old stuff like Thursday and Strings soared, but most importantly, the band was as tight as a virgin's snatch. They go on tour shortly, so go check em out, Im lookin forward to them coming back in April albeit at a bigger venue, but more shenanigans are sure to ensue. Ill be writing a longer detailed review for my blog if anyone gives a shit. 10/10 This is probably the best shot I got all night, a few others came out okay, but this one is my fave. Video is all shit due to how loud it was

been to a few gigs in the past few weeks.
first up was The Go! Team at the Liquid Room. Strange to think that it's been five years since I first saw them at the same venue. I'm glad to say they are still every bit as energetic and as great fun to watch now as they were then. My mate had some rotten speed which helped me to keep up with Ninja's encouragement to jump up and down during every song, alright. 7.
Anytime that British Sea Power are in town, I can't resist going. Doesn't matter if they have a new record out or not. They did this time at the Arches. Opened with 'Who's in Control?' which was BIG. They were on good form, played a two hour set, which is by far the longest I've seen them do. They played ZEUS, which was fucking incredible, and even part of the Man of Aran soundtrack. 8.
Last night 2manydjs were headling the Colours night at the Arches (it's a big venue/nightclub/exhibition space, has loads of different events). Was a massive night, the soundsystem was fucking incredible. Played a lot of house and hard techno, huge huge teems.

gruff rhys tonight. was fucking amazing.
the last song of the main set - cycle of violence was brilliant how he ended it by looping his screams whilst going nuts on a little moog thing. also really enjoyed the 7inches of bird songs he played in the background of the quieter numbers and the electric drumsticks were entertaining too.
gig of 2011 so far but this week ive still got british sea power, the go team and yuck coming up so that could change.
9/10

british sea power 9/10
was epic. do miss their old mental end to a set though but i guess it would be a bit tiresome by now if they were still doing it a decade into their career.

I think the last gig I went to was Noel last year. Was rubbish for ages because it was exactly the same as when I went 3 years beforehand (inspiring my mate's glorious Facebook status: "I don't believe in magic, Noel is automatic" - updated during Listen Up) but then he played Rockin' Chair and Digsy's Dinner. 100/10.
