To be honest, nobody goes to the festivals. In fact, they don't even exist. Bands are just paid actors and they never make music, it's just sound drugs being polluted to your brain.

I actually bought a ticket this year on the back of the Roses announcement, but I got rid of it when I seen the state of the way the lineup was looking. Really glad I did now after reading/seeing some of the stuff that went on as well. A couple of weeks ago I seen LCD Soundsystem play a brilliant set in front of a good size crowd with a great atmosphere at Glastonbury. I can't imagine the comedown I would have felt if I had been in this 'crowd' for them last night This against Red Hot Chilli Peppers (who sounded fucking awful from the bit I seen on TV) and Diplo. Absolutely awful. Geoff Ellis only has himself to blame. He's totally fucked with the type of people he books now. The NME stage is now the Radio 1 Summer Of Love stage, and they book a load of EDM shite that attracts a load of school leavers who can't handle 4 pints. Fucking hell I remember 2011 when I first went. Great lineup that year. The Strokes subbing the NME stage, Pulp subbing the main stage. I don't see it lasting much longer.

The explanation is in the lineups. There's not enough decent stuff to go and see anymore. The more EDM acts they book, the more its attracting kids. Apparently the average ticket sales were around 30,000 a day. They could have easily doubled it alone for the Friday day tickets if they booked more people that would have appealed to Roses fans (considering they tried to sell tickets on the back of announcing them alone). If there was only 30,000 there yesterday, then loads of the kids would have fucked off to Diplo, with the majority of the remaining people going for the famous guitar band. You're left with a few real LCD fans. Travis headlining King Tuts in 2016 FFS. They played a few slots down 2 years ago, and aren't getting any bigger. A total cop out of a booking.

But there's one thing I don't get... They really put their 3 biggest names of the day at the same time? Why?

It's a completely different festival now than it was 10 years ago. As Coleman says, it's all about EDM these days with the odd big guitar band thrown in. In 2005, you had the choice of seeing James Brown, SFA or New Order headline three different stages. And none of them were even on the main stage! That was the kind of quality they had in depth back then. The LCD Soundsystem turnout doesn't surprise me. I watched My Bloody Valentine play to about 30 people in 2013. 18 year olds don't give a fuck about them I went just to see the Roses this hear, which was cracking. Would I fuck camp. Saying that, the trouble has been massively overblown. It was a great atmosphere on the Friday.
