Haha I have quite a soft spot for the utter WTFness of Magic Pie. One of the only Noel-sung songs I'd consider listening to again out of choice.
7/10

Magic Pie
The only weak point on Be Here Now, the only Noel led vocal, quoting Tony Blair of all people. It's… I don't know what it is. It's not a lighters aloft ballad. It's not a psychedelic trip. It's just quite garbage. The opening vocal is actually painful to my ears. It's really quite embarassing - I'd never play it for anyone. 4/10 the only weak point on be here now. like a lot of tracks on the record it goes on way too long. painfully bloated out of 10.

The intro is actually pretty good - the Morse code, the vocal effect, the lines about digging friends and shoes. Once it kicks in though it becomes sub-standard and the chorus is piss poor.

Disgraceful, it's a tune as well! LINO OUT
I once played that song to a vegan and they loved the line 'dragging me round just like a dog on a lead'. Animal cruelty, you 'eard it. Another reason why cats reign. "A lead? For exercise? Nah mate, I'd rather walk. Just let me beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee"

Be Here Now is my favourite Oasis album; I love all the tracks apart from Magic Pie. Here Lino, why did you skip I Will Believe? Oho, not sure what happened there - added it to IHITIK at the bottom of page 16. Married with Children
Surprisingly low key closer to début effort, an acoustic love song sung softly by Liam, It's been suggested that it's about Noel and from the point of view of his then girlfriend ("your music's shite; it keeps me up all night"). Noel's taken to playing it quite often in his live performances, but with a slightly faster tempo and a country twang. It's inoffensive. 7/10

Morning Glory
Australia-only single from WTSMG, the song that gave the album its title, this sounds like a hangover (in a good way). The pounding drums, piercing lead riff, and sinister secondary riff (supposedly borrowed from REM's "The one I love" make up for the lazy "repeat the first verse" lyrics. Often performed acoustically live, with Noel on vocals to poor effect, it's a stone-cold classic. The clumsy Beatles reference and the unavoidable inference that it's about waking up with an embarrassing erection only cost it a point - it's a 9/10 Another reason why cats reign. "A lead? For exercise? Nah mate, I'd rather walk. Just let me beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" It's more that cats are so replaceable that their running off and being flattened by a car is no biggie, whereas with a dog you want to keep them tethered to you because their death would be soul crushing; like the world was ending. A dead cat would just result in a new one being bought on the drive back from the garbage dump where its lifeless carcass would have just been tossed out the car window. Never mind the damage cats do to native wildlife. The number of birds I've had to run out of my house to rescue from savage cats in my yard is astounding. Some I've nursed back to health and released back into the wild. Others were not so fortunate.

Scumbag Lino! Cats are beautiful. Dogs are rancid. Which other creature is allowed to openly bark in your face and assault you as you walk down the street? No wonder they're kept on leads as they should be kept in cages. Also how many young human deaths are caused by cats compared to dogs? Zilch. And yet you have the cheek to paint cats as being violent! Two of a kind: www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-43666657

Big love to the doggoe. All the smol puppers too. Anyway. Morning Glory, huh? And delayed thoughts on I will believe, apart from it supposedly being a "tune"?

I think I've had my say on I Will Believe given nobody else has even commented! How dare ya. But here's ones I missed...
Idler's Dream - sweet tune and more interesting than most of the album tracks. Avoids the verse-bridge-chorus formula which makes a refreshing change
I'm Outta Time - decent if predictable ballad. There's an outstanding acoustic version floating around though with Liam sounding like it's 1994
It's Better People - nice sentiment but best left on the shelf of Noel sung b-sides. Guess it's better with this stripped down sound though, people
It's Gettin' Better (Man!!) - by the end I'm upset it's finished as the outro is mega, those subtle 'hey-yas' with those riffs interchanging with Liam. I only wish they included the 'it's okay!' line
Keep the Dream Alive - predictable rocker which suffers more from the production. Chorus is catchy but obviously that's not enough. Keep trying Andy Let There Be Love - cheesefest unfortunately. Even Liam can't save it from being worse than the rough version that leaked years earlier Let's All Make Believe - so good, brilliant production, lyrics & vocals. Sums up the Giants era expertly with it's darker yet masterful sound
Listen Up - do do do do do do. One of the best riffs and solos in any song they did. I once wowed Anamadferit by telling her 'life is automatic' was about creation. I may have been pissed, but come back ana
Little by Little - tosh and predictable although the video is watchable at least
Little James - still underrated to this day. Love the production. Still my favourite Liam-written tune as well. I can relate to the childlike lyrics, true story
Live Forever - not many words needed for this. MTV acoustic version is definitely a funeral possibility (for my cat). The dog's bollocks
Lord Don't Slow Me Down - can't remember this, I definitely did slow down by this stage. Will get back to you
Love Like a Bomb - another harmless tune but harmless belongs to Sterephonics, Keane and Travis. Sort it out lads
Lyla - the weakest comeback tune they did but still got/gets me pumped. A classic in terms of the later stuff but on the scrapheap compared to <2000

Liam is wrecked there Nothing can beat the BBC version the night before the release of BHN. I remember watching it in my bedroom thinking it's the greatest thing I've ever heard - 20 years later and I've not changed my opinion much.
It also contains the 'it's okay!' line in case you're wondering wtf I'm on about

Mucky Fingers
Some people were really impressed with this, I never really got it. Noel in shouty mode, lyrics about… something supposedly profound, apparently political, repetitive music climaxing in a harmonica solo. Happy to take notes on what it's all about - "you found your God in a paper bag, you get your history from the Union Jack" - uh, what? 4/10

Those Em and Dsus2, two fingered chords, were a dream for the novice. Christmas Day 1999 I proudly played those two chords in the verse over and over to my forlorn looking family having spent about 5 hours trying to learn it. For that reason, it's getting 9/10. BANGER
