Not far off now. "Provisional squad lists – which have increased in size from 30 to 35 players – are required to be submitted by May 14, with their final 23-man squad list to be finalised on June 4 at the latest." Laurent Koscielny oot. Odds: Brazil 4/1 Germany 9/2 France 6/1 Spain 13/2 Argentina 9/1 Belgium 11/1 England 16/1 Portugal 25/1

The krauts really should have just stuck klose on the roster for a laff. He's 800 years old but probably still good for another goal or two in the group stage.

Wilshere left out for Delph apparently, a central midfielder who is no longer a central midfielder given he's played left back all season. Good one, Gareth.

so he provides cover in vital and versatile areas?
i don't think southgate deserves flack, he's made quietly brave decisions. wilshere has a shout as our most talented player but his body cannot be relied on, and it's stalled his development. he's picking the right squad. fair play, Gareth.

Realistically he won't be thrown into midfield though as he's hardly played there in recent years. The squads are already massive and I betcha a quarter of the players won't even play a single minute. I'd rather have a 20 minute stint from Wilshere off the bench than somebody sat there because they're versatile. Cahill not going is also ridiculous.
More than willing to Southgate a chance and kudos to him if he's ignoring the established names for a reason...but then he's selecting Welbeck.

what's wrong with welbeck? sure when off his game, he is a bit bambi but he's been a very decent international footballer who stretches defences with his running and attitude, potentially leaving all sorts of gaps for vardy/kane. plus 15 goals in 37 caps is pretty fucking good.
delph is an intelligent, adaptable footballer, and if he is good enough for guardiola to consider, then he is more than good enough for england.
give a shit about cahill, he wont win or lose us games.

thought smalling & livermore would go. would have taken wilshere (i'd use dier in defence). the centre midfield is uninspiring tbh. thought maybe shelvey might get on standby. delighted for trent. bring on the tournament.
