new big thief album (yes, another) 'two hands' is lovely on first listen. i know they divide the soapbox something rotten, but U.F.O.F. is a contender for my album of the year. dunno what it is, normally i'd be bored shitless by stuff like this but it gets completely under my skin.

Yep, the Richard Dawson record is incredible.
But i'll disagree about it being mad. It's the most sane thing anyone's released since bloody punk's heyday IMO.

Lyrically it's on-point, but come on, at one point he sounds like Bruce Dickinson, I thought he was going to break into the Number of the beast  Also his guitar tuning/playing style is pretty unusual. |

Yes, that Richard Dawson album is amazing. His other stuff is like this? Like, absolutely madcap musically, and so dry, deadbeat and humorous with his lyrics?

I've only heard his previous record which in instrumentation was more of medieval folk record So very different but clearly from the same mind. |

Addicted to that new Bodega EP Anyone heard a band called Wives yet? I downloaded them having heard nothing. Really can't make my mind up They sound like if when Sonic Youth got signed to a major they tried to make Mr Brightside There's some big tunes on there, but I suspect they are wrongons. Carnage Hall by Kaputt is great fun, B52s/talking heads type thing I've been enjoying a lot. |

Richard Dawson record keeps getting better with every listen, been paying even closer attention to the lyrics on the last few listens. This really is something special.

Kim's I'm enjoying, it has some great moments. Not sure I love it as a whole but I appreciate how she's attempted a lot of different styles. Was hoping she'd tour this record but it doesn't seem so.
