About to dive into the new one by the man the myth the ringo. Pray for me. Oh my Christ, he's singing "money, that's what I want" through a vocoder. This is appalling.

i feel as if i should like richard dawson a whole lot more than i do.
on paper he should be right up my street and people whose taste i trust love him. i've tried several times over the years though and nothing has fully clicked with me. i admire the ambition and ideas but just never have that full connect with his music.

Should I try him? I have no clue how he sounds like, but I am not sure if I will enjoy it

He does that at his live shows like Ray Davies does the "DAY-OO" thing. Which led to an amazing moment the last time I saw him with his all-starr band 5-6 years ago. I was sat next to an old couple, the lady of which was clearly an original beatlemaniac and the husband clearly...wasn't. He kept muttering to himself whenever ringo was singing and got excited whenever the singer from santana did something. Which finally led to the following exchange after ringo 'sang' one of his awful new songs. ""WHATS MA NAME?" "asshole" "WHATS MA NAME?" "ASSHOLE, I SAID!"

I think you should give the new one a couple more goes. It isn't a record to play once and dismiss, once I really listened to the lyrics & started to become familiar with the tunes it sounded so glorious. I'd only heard his previous record, but this is a much different beast.

Absolutely loving Richard Dawson. Lyrically it's the best thing I've heard in a very long time.

Kevin is weak.
Have I mentioned how much I love Richard Dawson's record? It has literally floored me. Lyrically nothing has spoken to me so perfectly since Original pirate material, it's like the moody sequel years later where the optimism & bravado of youth have been knocked out of me and replaced with anxiety & disappointment. If Pirate Material was A New Hope then 2020 is the Empire Strikes back, hope I don't have to wait like another 17 years until the next instalment when fury creatures unite to help us destroy Michael Gove.

wish i'd paid more attention to that little late junction stage at latitude where we saw melt yourself down years ago. richard dawson, sons of kemet and a few others who are now pretty well known all played it when we were there.

Richard Dawson wouldn't have had these INCREDIBLE songs though. JP I won't be happy until you've revisited the record and at least upped it to 4 stars.

Low 3.5 at the minute, nearly a 3. I'll come back to it at some point but I'm all about the Kim Gordon album at the minute. It's brilliant.

Don't worry, Karl, I've also got mad love for the Richard Dawson album. Got it belting out now while I throw together this presentation. The whole ordeal of visiting Paris and having to stay locked-up in my room in PowerPoint hell eating Pringles sounds like a Richard Dawson song begging to happen tbh.
What are your favourite tracks on it so far? I love Civil Servant, Two Halves & Jogging the most right now, but it's all bloody brilliant.
