That video is just the best I've started spending some time with Earthquake Glue and Isolation Drills. By far, the most polished GBV albums from the ones I've been listening to (Be Thousand, Alien Lanes, Under The Bushes Under The Stars) Get big 70s rock vibes all over Earthquake Glue. Some of the tracks sound so much like The Who. So far, tracks I'm loving Earthquake Glue are: My Kind of Soldier I'll Replace You With Machines Useless Inventions The Best of Jill Hives A Trophy In Particular Apology In Advance This week, I'll probably have Isolation Drills on heavy rotation. Had a couple of spins yesterday and most loved Fair Touching, Chasing Heather Crazy & Glad Girls. But, I'm sure there'll be more. Seems that a lot of GBV have hidden gems that get under your skin with repeated listens. Also, started my own GBV/Pollard playlist, and so far I've got 31 tracks from the 5 albums I've given some time to. Looking forward to uncovering more gems!

Jill Hives rocks! Bob is a huge Who fan, he bases his entire frontman persona on ripping off Daltrey. I'm glad someone else is going to suffer with the GBV fever like I did last year & you know what they say about Glad Girls? THEY ONLY WANNA GET YOU HIGH

I'm half way into the 32 tracks... it hasn't been very memorable so far. Hopefully there's some gold on the second half.

Fucking pussy, I did the entire back catalogue in under 12 months! I mean, tbf, I'm onto my 6th record ( I listened to Do The Collapse twice tonight; once on the train and once walking round Morrisons) so this week my time will be spent between Isolation Drills ( which I've spun about 5 times since Friday) and probably, mostly, Do The Collapse. Then, the plan is to dive back into Be Thousand & Alien Lanes to see how they feel having being exposed to some of the more well-produced stuff. Maybe I'll make the new one the next one I dive into, just to mix things up a bit. Re: your comment about nothing on the new one being memorable, I've found that with almost all of the albums I've listened to so far. Bar a couple of gems, it mostly seems forgettable, but then on repeated listens, things just sort of jump out or fall into place a bit more. I said it earlier, but I have to reiterate; I'm honestly going to have a hard time tearing myself away from Guided By Voices, and there is still so much more to listen to. At this rate, I'm not sure I'll listen to enough records to do a Top Albums of 2019 post come the end of the year. I've got the fucking fever.

It's ok TUX uncle Bob is turning it around on the second half "My future in Barcelona" is a tune.
I'm looking forward to your top 20 Pollard record list.

I've decided that the next 2 albums I'll jump into are actually the latest 2 - Space Gun & Zeppelin Over China. I'm starting with Zeppelin Over China which is playing right. So far, it's pretty drab. I'm upto Send In The Suicide Squad which has probably been the strongest track so far.
Also, I had Isolation Drills on this morning and it really clicked in a big way. I liked it quite a lot anyway but this morning it just sounded incredible.

I believe as much as Pollard likes the Who, the closer they get to that sound, the worse the tunes are

Lethargy from Propeller sounds like the intro to Jeff Hardy's theme music.

Unpopular post coming up
But I've just spent the past 12 months listening to Pollard & I've loved it but.... CONNECTIONS debut is better than ANY GBV RECORD. I've got it on for the first time in a year or two now and it sounds fucking incredible. Everything indie-rock should be. I don't care if they are essentially a GBV ripoff band, they fucking mastered that sound first time around. Sucks that they have zero fans and will never come to the UK. All I want is to punch people to Stuck Lung.

I can't give you an example now but I know Ive felt exactly the same guilt with some classic band vs modern rip-off

Been absolutely loving Zoo Pie from Do The Collapse. Here is a Peel Sessions version:
From what I've been reading, it's not a track that people generally rate but I can't get enough.

A much rawer version of Teenage FBI.
What a fucking tune. Even the polished version from Do The Collapse is incredible but I might like this version a bit better.

Yeah that version from Wish in One Hand is awesome, kind of wish it was longer like the Collapse version but still.
