i'm shocked to be saying this as i found their debut a big disappointment but the new fontaines dc is sounding brilliant on first listen.

the julianna barwick album has been on heavy replay. it's simply gorgeous. Never heard of her and I’m really enjoying this, Baz my boy what a pleasant surprise, looks like Jónsi from sigur ros has tea bagged the shit out of this record. Got back into Sigur Ros in a big way after watching will ferrel’s excellent Eurovision film. 🥴 Breathtaking shots of Iceland + cringe comedy = 10/10 on a Wednesday night.

New Fontaine’s record is amazing. There’s no denying it! I've had it on repeat all weekend. Easily my album of the year so far. Sorry Nadine Shah!

I didn't bother with Fontaines debut, so didn't have any interest in the follow-up. Gave both a listen over the weekend, and I agree, the new one is really good. Much prefer their moodier sound over the big bangers from the first one.

Only the album of the year!
Guys of the soapbox, please let us work together to ensure a fontaines dc and idles top 2 in the end of year polls to piss off mahoney. It could be a real benchmark moment in the tucker regime.

I won't, but serious question here. What is happening with that Microphones 45 minutes 4 chord song that has become like the best thing ever in rym? Any opinions or can I directly hate it for no real reason?

Small band with a real cult following releases first album in ages, the cult go wild.
I quite like it, the way it's structured it feels like 5 or 6 songs rather than one anyway. It's just Phil being miserable and ranting like he's a less cuntish version of Mark Kozelek. The rating on RYM is insane, but I've come to realise there's a lot of nerdy weirdos on that site. I saw one named Maddix85 that gave fontaines DC 4.5 stars out of 5.

I'd like it more if Phil talked over some awesome post-punk that's for sure!

It is when you listen to bands that make the National seem interesting! LOL

It is when you listen to bands that make the National seem interesting! LOL Speaking of, the most national thing the national could ever do was lend their "indie cred" to Taylor Swift. They could not be less interesting if they tried.

I'm a big fan of the Fontaines album.
Anything the Natiomal have done since High Violet is fucking dire.
