So yeah, Crack Cloud. Anyone heard of this bunch? I just found them and they look and sound exactly like something that should be receiving lots of hype (and maybe they do but I was unaware). Just heard a couple of tunes, not sure if I like them that much but it seems they're still under the radar and I'm pretty sure it will change pretty soon. I mean, they like some talking, you should check 'em
EDIT: I'd describe it like a battalion of Ariel Pink's clones and offsprings parodying all those post post post post post post punk groups you love so much

I missed the new Woods record last week on release day. Careless.
Anyway, first spin through and it's much better than last effort.
Really like this band.

Kamasi Washington has a soundtrack album out that TOTALS 31 minutes. Is someone holding him hostage? That’s usually the length of 1song.

Looking forward to the new album. I've missed them when they've been over here. I think they're actually a coterie of actual ex Crack heads, or something. They have very little online presence.

RTJ4 is tremendous. Sounds better with every listen. The samples used and overall production is just 10/10

Can't understand at all. Booming, relevant, adventurous, some great bars, chemistry, couldn't be more topical. Love it. Love them. Together and solo.

on that topic, el-p's wonderful album from 2002, Fantastic Damage, is now on Spotify. Haven't heard it for ages, but remember it blowing my mind at the time. Listened again to it today and it still sounds original and fresh as anything.

The new Jessie Ware album is exactly the album I wanted from her. I can't stop playing it. Perfect fun sensual smooth classy disco pop, without any of those adjectives turning into pejoratives.

African music has been flavour of the month for a little while now and I guess brought into sharper focus since Tony Allen's death, but this might be the best thing i've heard this year, African or otherwise. Album out on 3rd July. Great to see Coldcut back producing brilliant music. I'm old enough to have been around since they started out in the late 80s and their Seven Minutes of Madness mix of Paid in Full is still the best 12" ever released in my eyes (fuck New Order). And they are as influential and important as anyone in modern music. Apparently the album is gonna be chock full of great collaborators. This blew my mind when I heard for the first time today. The best. It was so good, that the main sample (female vocal) from the Israeli singer Ofra Haza hit the top 20 on the back of it. Love the comments underneath too- takes me right back. Being a teenager as hip hop took off was fucking great. The Keleketla album is out.
