I'm locked in boys, the Beetle bunker, built originally as a panic room is operational. Shotgun, shells, bottled water, got an electric cooktop running off solar panels, pasta, canned tomatoes and various cured Italian meats that don't need to be refrigerated.
Our work has cancelled all business travel, all external meetings, next week onwards half of workforce will work in office and other half from home, vice versa the week after with no social contact allowed outside of work with the other half. A guy that I work with was in Milan a couple of weeks ago and came into work, he's gotten an almighty bollocking from the top brass.
All schools closed in Italy, with other countries likely to follow suit. Lufthansa has grounded 150 planes with others likely to do same. Sporting events and other events cancelled. A good friend of my GF is Xavier Bettel's (Luxembourg PM) right hand man. He thinks schools will be closed here soon, and there's only 2 reported cases here so far.
Comparing with other viruses and diseases that we know loads about is pointless, cos this is still an unknown quantity.
And the financial markets have taken an absolute mullering. Which of course gives the brexit loving cunts in charge of the UK ample opportunity to hide the economic damage that'll do.
This is the real deal folks- strap in and stock up on arse rag and soup.

I have this inexplicable thing when I take pills for about half on hour my nose and throat fill with water and I can’t stop coughing, meant to be going out tomorrow and I’m going to terrify everyone.

Haven't seen natural light now in over 24 hours, the Philips hue light though has a setting where you can mimic sunrise and sunset, so that is helping maintain my rhythm. It is amazing how little you need in reality, I worked from home and now I am getting ready to re-read Black Swan.
Those with underlying health issues are most at risk, including diabetics. I'm a diabetic, if I get it my mother in law gets it, as she stays with us most of the week. She's 73 and has respiratory issues already, so I'd say she's be pretty fucked if she got it.
My dad is recovering from cancer so his immune system isn't what it should be. My mum is also diabetic.
In my head all I can see is the worst case scenario.
I don't usually get worried about things like this, but this one has me shitting myself.
Yes this is turning into a horrible situation. Like most people I have elderly family members who I doubt would survive this if they caught it. That includes my mother who is approaching 70 and not in the best of health. Keep safe people
I'm slightly worried, my level of worry is the same as it was during SARS, MERS, swine flu, and fucking EBOLA though? Which is nowhere near the level of worry that currently exists in the UK?
I still don't understand why my worry level should be multiplied by a billion? which is what everyone keeps telling me?
My mother is diabetic, and she is a nervous wreck at the moment.
I'd say it's less agressive than most of the ones you mention but chances are way more higher that you or someone around you will catch it. The main problem is the incoming collapse of the health system, it's not the same to deal with 10000 cases in a week than in a month. There's this bell graph everywhere right now, that's the key imo.
So yeah, no need to panick but stay safe, don't travel or go to packed places if you don't have to.
