First listen of that new Sault record did little for me. Very eclectic, bounced around a lot of ideas but nothing felt fully formed for me sink my teeth into.

It took me a few listens after the immediacy of the first two.

While I'm waiting for it, guess you can answer when was it recorded and why was it never released? They got dropped by Rough Trade after the second LP. They had already demoed a third record, so thought fuck it, we’ll record it in Glasgow. This was around 2010. They used Green Door, which is a really highly regarded analogue studio, so the album sounds great. Im not sure exactly why no one picked it up. I think there must have been some fall-out somewhere. But when I asked Jackie for a copy of it he actively encouraged me to share it

Overnight SAULT have dropped an operatic, classical album called Air.
It's full orchestra, full chorus, delicate in places and bombastic in others.
I'm no expert, but I have been to a few operas and if this was served up I wouldn't be disappointed.

I'm pretty sure it'll be revealed that Sault is a musical algorithm made by Spotify to save them money on their playlists.

I finally just listened to a Sault album in full for the first time ever.
It was untitled (rise) and....
I fucking loved it!
Where should I go next? They have quite a few albums now and I understand some are much better than others. I assume the other untitled lp from 2020 will be next as that seemed to get all the plaudits when it came out.

Go in order. The first 4 are all really good. Then they went a bit mad and released 6 or 7 albums in 12 months. 5 in one day. I've still not listened to all of them. The one off gig they did last month looked insane. The fan entrance to the room alone was like a cross between Secret acinema and some corner of Glastonbury Lost Vagueness. Check the footage online.
