Just started mine too.

i'm ashamed at how white men playing guitars heavy my list is. i like to think i'm someone with a diverse taste across all genres but pulling my top 50 from rym its just white boy indie after white boy indie

You can have gained a hugely diverse taste over the years, tho your favourite records are most likely to lean heavily on stuff you’ve loved for many years, so it’s no surprise that indie/alternative rock will make up most people’s lists on here. It’s basically what we’ve all spent the most time listening to from teenage years onwards

I'm having to rely on tools other than RYM as never got round to using it. But have got to 100 with ease.

My list will be 150 like Karl's.

10 years old- the first record I fell in love with. Wham were fucking great. Similar with Pet Shop Boys- Please. Was over the moon when I got the cassette for Christmas.

I'd always given side 2 of the Cymande record so much time, as the run of Bra, Fug, The Message is about as good a 123 as you can get. And they were all big tracks from my youth because of their hip hop connection, but over the last couple of years i've given side 1 much more time. It's just a great record from start to finish.

I'd never listened much to Tim Buckley, and this is the only album of his i've ever gone back to repeatedly, funnily enough partly because of a drunken conversation with Ryley Walker outside the Sebright Arms after this gig (which he added me to the guestlist of after another conversation that day outside Sister Ray/Ace Hotel in Shoreditch where he just played for record store day). He mentioned it was one of his all time favourites.

I don't expect many to love the Pet Shop Boys record, but it was a huge album for me when I was 11/12. And it has West End Girls on it, which I still think is one of the great pop songs.

It seems a bit pointless joining RYM now no? Although, I suppose as I get older and start losing my mind, it might be helpful.

I haven't had a good read of your list yet, but will take some time with it tomorrow, but I am a huge fan of Forever Changes ;-)

This is a bloody great list.

It's made me realise what's shamefully missing from mine. I don't have any 60s soul. No late 70s New York Punk (I don't think Blondie really counts) or Iggy Pop. No Afrobeat, nothing Brazilian, no Leonard Cohen (but tbh I only really know him for indivudual tracks, I need to amend this), no Garage Rock, no Eels, nothing George Clinton related. Damn.

I also need to investigate Lee Hazlewood more. I only know him from the Nancy Sinatra pairings.

Perhaps we should make this top 200.
